Malta: The Beland Music Festival – This Week


Prepare to be entertained. Make sure you leave the week between the 15th of May to the 22nd of May free as one of the biggest local festivals of music will be held in Zejtun by the Beland group. A whole week of FREE entertainment that will include some of the best local stars from different sectors and also the number one tribute to an icon who has departed this world recently will feature in this open air festival. The aim of this event is simple – let’s all enjoy life with some of the finest music and help out Puttinu Cares, as the event will be in aid of Puttinu Cares whose organization needs continuous support and money to keep it going.

Sunday 15th May
Grand Opening – 10AM Start and things will continue until late evening. Some of the live acts amongst other forms of entertainment that will feature on the day include; Albertine, The OverOuts, ColourBlind and Rising Sunset.

Monday 16th May
A two hour concert by Malta’s top Rock and Roll Star Freddie Portelli which will follow the performance of Maltese folklore music by local folk singers. Delicata Winery will also provide a special wine stall for the event.

Tuesday 17th May
Malta’s POP SHOW will be featuring some of the best local talent, mostly associated with the festival scene and these include none other than; Thea Garrett, Fabrizio Faniello, Richard Edwards, Kurt Calleja, Amber, Annabelle Debono, Janvil, Kaya, Baklava and this year’s Eurovision Song Contest representative Glen Vella.

Wednesday 18th May
After Pop, comes Rock and two of the most famous acts will entertain the present crowd on Wednesday. The two acts are; The Riffs who have enjoyed success in the local scene for over 30 years and Ira Losco who certainly needs no introduction. Ira will be joined on stage by her band and will give a full live concert.

Thursday 19th May
Green Gathering is the theme of the day and the locals join together, a month before the feast of St Catherine of Alexandria in celebration of their saint. Live performances by local artists will take place on this day – these include; Gillian Attard, Stephen Mizzi & Charles Muscat amongst others.

Friday 20th May
Alive The Concert – Special Edition from Outside. Two full live sets by Bay Music Award Winners. These are Bletchley Park who walked away with the best new comer award and Airport Impressions who have dominated the local scene lately. The band managed to walk away with three prestigious awards; Best Band, Best Song and Bay Presenter’s Choice.

Saturday 21st May
After the domination of local artists in the festival, on Saturday the organisers decided to introduce an international act. NAVI is known as the top Michael Jackson impersonator. He has performed in more than 54 countries and worked with the King of Pop himself. On Saturday he will be giving a full band live concert which will surely include unforgettable tracks, dance routines and visual effects. Please note that prior to this there will also be Paul Abela and his band along with some of the most popular local acts including Claudia Faniello and Klinsmann amongst others.

Sunday 22nd May
Saving the best for last. Well this might be the case, but the organizers decided to go again for some of the finest local acts in the industry which have massive following in our country. Every beginning has an end, and the end will surely be a spectacular one as it will include; Wayne Micallef, Tarcisio Barbara, Gillian Attard, Mary Spiteri, Ludwig Galea, Raquela, Chiara, Olivia Lewis and Glen Vella who will be fresh off his Eurovision experience. Amongst these performers there will also be George Curmi il-Puse who will join the live Beland Band.
