Rolling back through the midst of time, one would keep a eye out for the musical reality programs that took place with the very first one coming back in 2001 under the title name ‘Pop Idol’, a huge success indeed with the winner; Will Young still managing to outsell most British artists to this day. Still, this led to the initiation of a various amount of other shows including the American Franchise known as ‘American Idol’ and then a brand new concept created by music mogul Simon Cowell under the title name ‘X Factor’ which has been the building block of some amazing careers including those of JLS, Olly Murs, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry, Cher Lloyd and One Direction amongst others. Still over the past two years, the Dutchman, John De Mol came up with a brand new concept entitled ‘The Voice’ in which a set of mentors listen to the artists without looking and them and deciding whether they are worth taking care of within their musical genre. The series will be launching in Ireland and Brian Kennedy has been appointed as one of the mentors.

The Irish star is very much famous in his home country having been the first one to perform the worldwide smash hit ‘You Raise Me Up’ before the song got covered by the group; Westlife and Classical Crossover performer; Josh Groban. Brian does not need any introduction having recorded a total of nineteen albums, giving his fans at home plenty to cheer about with that typically Irish sounding voice being played over and over again. It was a surprise to many when he accepted to carry the Irish flag at the 2006 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Every Song Is a Cry for Love’ which he had written himself seeing Ireland qualify for the very first time since the introduction of the semi-final system. He had finished in ninth place there and in the finals, he took the nation to their best placing since 2000 when he finished in a stunning tenth place. During the series bearing the name ‘The Voice of Ireland’ set to be aired on RTE One, he is set be joined by another three mentors in the form of singer/songwriter Niall Breslin, Sharon Corr from the group The Corrs and Kian Egan from the group Westlife. The show will kick off in the new year.
