One of the earlier countries to make an announcement with regards to their participation in the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is Serbia whom following two years of mid-table results and also a non-qualification the year before have gone onto select both the artist and the song internally. The final choice was none other than Zeljko Joksimovic who could be hailed as one of the biggest male stars in the country. His contributions to the musical competition have been numerous having written, performed and even hosted the showcase. The Serbian broadcaster; RTS are keen to try and win the event for yet another occasion making them the first country in just years of their first victory to achieve it once more if managed.
Zeljko Josimvic has already represented Serbia when it had still been with Montenegro back in 2004 with the song ‘Lane Moje’ finishing in second place. Nevertheless, he would ultimately return as the composer for the song ‘Lejla’ presented for Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2006, also finishing in third place. Ultimately, he would also work with the Serbian representative at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest which he would be hosting. The song entitled ‘Oro’ finished in an extremely respectable sixth place. He will be singing a number of his personal hits before being joined by other famous artists during the live showcase. The Serbian entry will be performed live on RTS1, the satellite channel of the same broadcaster and also the officially broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest.
