Austria: Trackshittaz Win the Ticket to Baku

Since returning to Eurovision Song Contest, Austria have decided to take the competition extremely seriously and they hosted an astounding showcase this evening with the slickest of presentations. There were ten (10) acts gunning for the ticket to represent the small country in the middle of the European continent. Following the respective performances of all of the acts, the hosts presented numerous recaps before finally announcing the two with the most votes. In the end, it became a two way race between Conchita Wurst with the song ‘That’s What I Am’ and the 2011 runners-up Trackshittaz with the song ‘Woki Mit Deim Popo’. They performed once more to garner the support of the public and that is where the fan-base for each act seems to have kicked in.

There were a number of Austrian celebrities which commented on the acts during the evening including none other than former representatives; Nadine Beiler, Petra Frey, Marianne Mendt and Eric Papilaya. The line-up during the evening was quite good involving many genres. The tele-voting kicked off and the votes were actually quite close but then again at the end of the evening, there had to be one winner and that would be none other than Trackshittaz with the track ‘Woki Mit Deim Popo’ which could be translated into ‘Shake Your Ass’ in a dialect of the Mühlviertel region in Austria. Their final tally in the voting was that of just above the middle way as they garnered 51% to the 49% of Conchita Wurst, who has become known as the bearded lady. Austria will compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Stay tuned for more information only on ESCflashmalta.
