L’Essenziale, co-written by Roberto Casalino, Francesco de Benedettis and Marco Mengoni will be the representative entry of Italy in this years’ edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Since their return to the international showcase two years ago, Italy has been extremely successful managing to finish as the first runner-up in 2011 with the song Follia D’Amore (Madness of Love) performed by Raphael Gualazzi and also in ninth place last year when Nina Zilli took to the stage with the track L’Amore e Femmina (Out of Love). It seems that the professional jury which picked Marco Mengoni might have done the right choice in order to increase viewership and give the showcase more prestige.
Solo 2.0 was the debut album of Marco Mengoni released in 2011 under the RCA Label Group imprint and managing to peak at number #1 apart from being certified Gold but nevertheless, it seems that the Sanremo victory has helped improve on those statistics because his sophomore album entitled #prontocorrere under the Sony Music imprint has also peaked at number #1 whilst looking to be certified even better than Gold. L’Essenziale is one of the tracks on the album and it is also currently at number #1 on the singles charts. Marco Mengoni has just been photographed for the second time in a matter of months for the cover of Vanity Fair and this is definitely a hero in the eyes of the Italians. His fan base is astonishing and the song that will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest has almost ten million views. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.
