Spain, one of the countries with a direct pass into the final of the Eurovision Song Contest has decided against an internal selection in 2014, short-listing five (5) possible acts who wish to represent the nation in the illustrious event hoping to emulate Pastora Soler whose entry Quédate Conmigo reached tenth place two years ago, and indeed trying to forget the penultimate position achieve by ESDM and their entry Contigo Hasta el Final. The songs that each of the acts will be presenting were officially published by the public broadcaster earlier today.
RTVE, the Spanish public broadcaster, responsible for the nations’ participation has not been close to triumph in the international competition since 1995 when Anabel Conde had reached second place with the song Vuelve Conmigo whilst managing only four top ten results since the noughties, those coming in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2012 respectively. Amongst the finalists in this years’ national selection, the first one since 2011, there is none other than Ruth Lorenzo, a former X Factor finalist in the United Kingdom known for her stunning rendition of Purple Rain, as well as former selection runner-up Raul.
