Since 2010, Romania has been absent from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, owing to lack of interest and an extremely disappointing last place finish back in 2009 with the track ‘Ai Puterea în Mâna Ta‘ sung by Ioana Bianca Anuta. In a reply to an email sent to Bianca Dinescu of TVR, a representative of the public broadcaster in Romania, the chances of participation have been significantly downplayed.
“As the situation lays, I don’t think there are chances to participate”. Bianca believes that there might be better news for 2015 though. Romania was one of the first countries to partake in the international competition, with their seven consecutive participations commencing in 2003 and coming to an end in 2009. During their seven year stint, their best result was a fourth place finish in 2004 with the track ‘Îți Mulțumesc‘ performed by Noni Ene. Further to that though, they managed a top eight result on another two occasions, in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
