In 2014, “Tu Primo Grande Amore”, sung by Vincenzo Cantiello was triumphant during the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, giving rise to speculation that Italy could be taking over from Malta, as hosts of the prestigious event. RAI, the public broadcaster on behalf of Italy has declined the opportunity to take on the event, thus prompting a bidding process, one which includes ‘two countries’, according to Vladislav Yakovlev, Executive Producer of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Around the internet message boards, it is speculated that two countries, Bulgaria and Malta, have shown interest in hosting the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The first runner-up, has been gunning for the right to take on such a prestigious event, noting that Krisia, Hasan and Ibrahim were sent to participate in 2014 through a private broadcaster. On the other hand, the Public Broadcasting Services were excellent hosts with many members of the foreign press commenting that they would not mind returning in 12 months.

The European Broadcasting Union will most likely make a decision by the end of January, with Vladislav Yakovlev stating that they would be ‘excited to work with either of them on Junior Eurovision 2015’ adding that they are ‘lucky to be in a position that two broadcasters would like to host’.
