Chasing Sunsets, sung by 9-year old Chanel Monseigneur has just been revealed as Malta’s entry in this year’s edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, following a 50% split vote between the general public and a professional jury, which comprised of singer / songwriter Eliana Gomez Blanco, singer / songwriter Dominic Cini and 2019 Eurovision Song Contest representative Michela Pace.
The song is penned by Emil Calleja Bayliss, who has previously written two entries for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with music by Peter Borg, Joe Roscoe and Aleandro Spiteri Monseigneur, three members of the popular pop/rock band Red Electrick who have spent most of the summer scaling the charts with their bop Come Alive.
In 2nd place was Leah Mifsud and the song Anywhere, with lyrics by Aidan Cassar and music by Aidan Cassar and Matteo Depares while Mychael Bartolo Chircop finished in 3rd place with The Child From Inside, composed by Kaya and penned by Yaron Malachi and Mychael Bartolo Chircop.
Due to the restrictions set forth by Covid-19 across the globe, Chanel will be performing in Malta, in a live transmission that will be aired during the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Poland. Television Malta will be airing the spectacle live on the 29th November.
