At midday on November 9th, Anna Azzopardi released a brand new single through viral website YouTube before being made available on all major digital platforms, including but not limited to: Tidal, Spotify iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Google Play. The song, Ġenna tal-Art talks about Malta in all its splendour and beauty, and the memories of magical summers gone by, with the hope that more memories will be made in the near future.
An artist whose name is rather synonymous with the use of the Maltese language through the medium of song is that of Janice Mangion, who after her success with the song Kewkba in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2017 launched at least original song in Maltese every year. The last one, Għadu Mhux il-Waqt was a finalist in the 43rd edition of the festival L-Għanja tal-Poplu. For her performance of that same song, she was awarded with the Best Interpretation title, apart from reaching the top of the iTunes Charts in Malta once again.
Chasing Sunsets, sung by 9-year old Chanel Monseigneur has just been revealed as Malta’s entry in this year’s edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, following a 50% split vote between the general public and a professional jury, which comprised of singer / songwriter Eliana Gomez Blanco, singer / songwriter Dominic Cini and 2019 Eurovision Song Contest representative Michela Pace.
