“My love for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest has never been a secret, but I have decided to stay away for a second consecutive year, focusing on my career in the United States”, said Davinia to the editorial team of escflashmalta.com two weeks after the Public Broadcasting Services received submissions for the next edition of the national selection, slated to take place in January 2016.

In a rather meteoric rise to the top of the local music scene, Davinia emerged as a successful radio artist, with debut single “Bottled My Teardrops” and the follow-up “Sail Away” scaling the top of the charts on 89.7 Bay and receiving nationwide airplay.

She submit an entry into the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, “Betrayed”, composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt ‘Muxu’ Mercieca, emerging as a dark horse during rehearsals, eventually managing a second runner-up finish. Davinia did not look back, and released a follow-up single during the summer months, “You Are My Home”, which was very well received, representing a slight change in direction from a music standpoint.

Work on another song for the competition begun, and despite entering as a favourite with “Brand New Day”, she finished at the bottom of the scoreboard with 7 points, 4 from the jury, and 3 from the tele-voting, despite receiving the ESCflashmalta People's Choice Award. Since then, Davinia has moved to the United States, worked on “Round & Round”, a summer single co-written with Nick Lopez, and more recently played at the historic Viper Room in Los Angeles, a venue which hosted a slew of legends, such as Cher, Guns N' Roses and Bruce Springsteen.

We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about Malta's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

In 2013, one of the surprise packages of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest was female singer/songwriter Davinia, whose entry "Betrayed" composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt Mercieca finished in 3rd place. True to her character, she returned with a second entry, "Brand New Day", but the result was not as expected and did not trouble the scoreboard despite touted as a potential winner.

Davinia, a guest writer on escflashmalta.com has confirmed to this portal that she does not intend to submit an entry for the 2015 edition of the Malta Euroviion Song Contest for the simple reason that she will be relocating to the United States of America, where she will be studying vocal technique and music theory. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about the 2015 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest.

Malta, filled to the brim with talent has produced some scintillating collaborations along the years, but none of them will match up to the expectation of an upcoming combination featuring Gianluca and Davinia. The renowned vocalists, who competed against each other in the 2013 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with "Tomorrow", co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat, and "Betrayed" composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matthew Mercieca, are joining forces on a brand new radio single.

As stated above, collaborations could very much scintillating if given time and dedication, hence why the creative process is currently in full swing. Elton Zarb of Freetime Productions will be responsible for the music, whilst Matthew Mercieca will be responsible for the lyrics. This is a project initiated by Davinia, currently at number #9 on Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D, having been as high up as number #3 with her latest single "Ouch!" It is worth keeping in mind that Gianluca represented Malta in the 2013 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, achieving the nation's best result in 8 years by finishing in 8th place. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

June!! Known to be the month where everybody finishes exams, the days grow longer, and people are always sun kissed, meaning that happiness is spread quickly. It is also the time for sun, sun, sun, and of course, a couple of parties here and there. Music is still at the forefront of my daily routine, and the music released this past month deserves a round of applause, because it is off the beat. In the meantime though, I would like to thank you ALL for the massive support that you have given my latest single "Ouch!" which has been receiving AMAZING feedback both from YOU the general public as well as radio stations alike. Anyway, enough with the chit-chat, these are my TOP FOUR songs for the month of June!

Shake That - Dansson & Marlon Hoffstadt (DE)

This is by far the best tune this month, and everytime it comes on the radio or at a party, I automatically get into a good mood and start dancing :) It has an extremely good vibe and the rhythm is just awesome.

Marilyn Monroe - Pharell Williams (US)

It would have been silly to leave this out of the top tunes of the month, considering that I adore every second of this song. His vocals are so slick on this track that it takes me back in time. That said, it does have a modern twist, and one which will be on several playlists during the course of June and the rest of the summer months.

Solo Dancing - Indiana (UK)

If you have not heard this track just yet, then you are going to fall in love, instantly. It is catchy and addictive, giving the listener a sense of peace and freedom. It is going to be another one of thise massive ones this season, for sure.

A Sky full of Stars - Coldplay (UK)

Coldplay need no introduction in music, and they have indeed done it again. This track is beautiful, making you think of that someone special, and giving you hope that one is in love whatever the circumstances in life actually are! :)

A couple of weeks ago, On the Dancefloor, written by Matt Mercieca was unveiled as the second single by Jan Cortez following the smashing success he had with the track My World which was selected as the Best Song of the Year at the Bay Music Awards. As expected, the brand new track has a thumping beat in retrospect of the hot summer months that have somewhat engulfed the country. It's the type of song that one would hear by the pool or the beach during an extremely wild party and it can also be yours for a mere €0.99 through digital portal, iTunes. In order to support the release of the song, the male vocalist published an official music video just a couple of days back which you may also view at the bottom of this article.

Through his latest track, Jan Cortez garnered airplay on 89.7 Bay as well as all the major radio stations in the country but his success has been denoted on iTunes where he did enter the local chart for around a week. The songwriter of this track, Matt Mercieca was also responsible for the second runner-up entry at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, Betrayed which was performed by Davinia to the music of Elton Zarb. In the meantime, the music video for On The Dancefloor is quite technical with special effects throughout the four minute track. Special thanks for the music video goes to  Jon Camilleri and Marlon Polidano who were responsible for filming and editing respectively. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for the latest news as it becomes available.

In this interview, she spoke about the positive effects of her third place result at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. She added that she would love to participate once more and therefore, escflashmalta.com is proud to reveal that Davinia might very well be the first finalist in next years' edition.

The official video accompanying the track was exclusively revealed on escflashmalta.com earlier this week. The track is currently being played on all of the local radio stations whilst also getting broadcasted abroad in countries such as The Netherlands amongst others. Betrayed, composed by Elton Zarb and penned by Matt Mercieca with vocals provided by Davinia was the second runner-up entry at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Despite being a relative newcomer to the competition, Davinia has been working on a number of tracks in recent years including a duet entitled Feel Good Song with her singer/songwriter Muxu and also a solo track entitled Sail Away.

The long standing collaboration between the trio will continue as the upcoming artist plans the release of a brand new single entitled You're My Home which escflashmalta.com had the pleasure of listening to in the past couple of days. The percussion of the song is softened by a beautiful piano melody as everything is stripped down to let the vocals of Davinia shine through the track. This is an extremely different song to the one offered within the Malta Eurovision Song Contest showing how versatile the artist is.

Whilst the music literally screams beauty, the lyrics are event more stunning, echoing 'I promise you full honestly' and 'I won't go'. Those who tend to fall in love with lyrics for their sentimental value will definitely be swept away once more. We are pleased to announce that You're My Home composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt Mercieca will also get an official video which escflashmalta.com will be unveiling exclusively in the next couple of weeks, so make sure to stay tuned.
