"Escape", composed and produced by Carlo Gerada, lyrics by Matthew Mercieca (Muxu), and mastered by Elton Zarb at Freetime Studios, with vocals provided by Stefan Galea, is currently receiving airplay on all major radio stations, whilst supported by a music video, one shot and directed by Angie Laus, Duane Laus, and Marlon Polidano on behalf of WE Media.
The music video was shot entirely at So City Club, Paceville courtesy of Graham Testa. The location fits perfectly with the theme and genre of the song, thus making it a dance floor filler in order to appeal to various teenagers, whilst highlighting a new direction in Stefan Galea's career. The setup of the music video is very diverse, thus making it unique and special. It portrays different characters in the club scene, with a spectacular team of break-dancers, choreographed by Peter Ray Portelli (Waterfall Dance Company).
Stefan is currently busy performing live acoustic gigs with his guitarist Kurt Aquilina (Maltese representative at the Eurovision Young Musicians 2014) on various TV shows. At present he is being vocally coached by Gillian Attard from La Voix Academy and Alison Ellul where he is also, currently busy preparing for his trinity guildhall voice examinations. "It has been a rollercoaster of emotions" according to Federica Falzon on Twitter, but it has definitely been the best edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest to date, in terms of quality of entries, and production. The Public Broadcasting Services deserves a standing ovation for putting on such a show, which enthralled the public watching at home, and those present in the arena.
At the close of the voting, Vincenzo Cantiello and his entry "Tu Primo Grande Amore" on behalf of Italy were clear winners, with Bulgaria and their entry "Planet of the Children" performed by Krisia, Ibrahim & Hasan finishing in second place, and Armenia's Betty finishing in third place with "People of the Sun". Malta was in agreement with the top 3, although not specifically in that order, having awarded Bulgaria with 8 points, Italy with 10 points, and Armenia with 12 points.
A galvanised crowd inside the Shipbuilding gave Federica Falzon the right ingredients to give a magical performance, and "Diamonds" never sounded any better. The performance was rewarded with a fourth place finish, obtaining points from every other country in contention except Croatia. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter as attention turns to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014-2015 for the next week.
It is not an everyday occurrence that a child’s dream comes true but at this Junior Eurovision a 12 year old’s dream did actually come true. Tome Kindler is a big fan of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and has been following it since 2012 which also happens to be the last year her home country Israel, participated in the contest itself.
escflashmalta.com was at the right place, at the right time yesterday evening to witness all this because as soon as one of our editors walked into the official hotel where all the delegations are staying he found a sight which surprised many. The 12 year old Israeli, managed to make her dream come true when she got to meet our shining star Federica Falzon.
Malta is a small country but Tome never expected that from the airport to the hotel she will be chauffeured in Federica Falzon’s mini-bus and when the parents told the driver the reason for their visit, Federica’s uncle phoned his brother to arrange the meeting and make Tome’s dream a reality. The girl was in fact gobsmacked and at first could only hug Federica as tears streamed down her face but the shy timid girl quickly built her confidence and started chatting to one of her idols.
Tome has waited to come to Malta for quite a long time since this was the present she asked for her 12th birthday. Her parents are very supportive and thought that this would be the perfect environment for her since she will get to meet other children from all over Europe to celebrate this musical journey together. After finding out that Federica Falzon will be Malta’s choice, the young girl from Israel researched her performances on YouTube and was instantly hooked.
It was never a question on who she will support at this years’ contest and she believes that ‘Diamonds’ should win the competition hands down. She managed to meet two of the songwriters behind the song, Gillian Attard and Matthew Muxu Mercieca, both expressed their gratitude at Tome since she knows the lyrics by heart. It was a great surprise for the Maltese delegation that made sure that the girl takes with her some merchandise and an autograph by our star Federica.
Apart from meeting the Maltese representative, Tome also got the opportunity to meet the Dutch and Cypriot representative. She enjoyed the rest of the night at the EuroClub running around and playing with Federica Falzon and her friends. On Saturday, she will be definitely be rooting for Federica Falzon and holding our flag high; maybe Tome will be Malta’s lucky charm this year. On stage for the second set of rehearsals, Federica Falzon was truly a beacon of light, with a marvelous vocal performance that sent down a spine-tingling feel throughout everyone watching on the screen or in the arena. The diminutive soprano, winner of Ti Lascio Una Canzone with Vincenzo Carni earlier this year, was wearing a short golden outfit, paired with a belt, and dazzling golden slippers. Designed exclusively by Charles & Ron, the outfit came across as if out of a dream on camera, an effect which they surely wanted to create.
In the follow-up press conference where the above photo was shot, Federica was all smiles, stating that she is enjoying the experience of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, getting to meet all the other participants, and having fun. "Diamonds", co-written by Elton Zarb, Matthew Mercieca and Gillian Attard will be performed at slot number #15 on Saturday 15th November 2014 as Malta hosts this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.
On the 7th November, a week prior to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Federica Falzon will be making a guest appearance on the programme Xarabank, produced by WE Media and hosted by Peppi Azzopardi, in order to give a LIVE performance of "Diamonds". This is the same song with which she will be representing Malta, on home soil, during the international showcase. Co-Written by Elton Zarb, Matthew Mercieca and Gillian Attard, the song showcases the versatility in Federica's vocal range.
Federica Falzon came to prominence following her success on "Ti Lascio Una Canzone", a singing competition which airs on RAI Uno, specifically designated for children. She overcame the odds, to win the juries and the public vote, as she took on majestic songs on a weekly basis, giving masterful performances, whilst being accompanied by tenor, Vincenzo Carni. We urge you to support Federica Falzon, by following her on Twitter, Facebook and VK. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter.
