Music is always on the frontfront of the minds of everyone and when the analysis of the second semi-final is put forward, it seems that one track seems to stick to mind with all of the others fighting it out for the remaining qualification spots. The amount of quality in this years' competition of the Eurovision Song Contest is quite high, so much so that it has been noted to be an open field at least until a couple of weeks ago when a number of tracks had been touted as potential winners. Nevertheless, the sixth song to be heard on the night of Thursday, will be none other than Vida Minha composed by Andrej Babic and penned by Carlos Coelho and ultimately performed by Filipa Sousa. The entry will be representing Portugal, the longest competing country yet to score a victory. Filipa Sousa was born on March 2, 1985,…
There has been critical acclaim on the second semi-final in recent weeks on being much more interesting than the first due to the high song quality that seems to be extending over the whole evening. In the last couple of days, our critics have been on hand to discuss the first four tracks and it seems that they have noted their favourites in that same period. Nevertheless, the fifth song to be performing on Thursday night has been handed to Belarus, a country that is yet to really put their mark on the Eurovision Song Contest in a consistent manner as will be seen in their historical analysis. This year, the broadcaster called for a national selection but then in the long run, the original winner was dismissed due to voting corruption leaving the group Litesound as the winners with the song We Are The Heroes written by Dmitry Kariakin…
Over the past couple of months, it has been well noted that the relations between Malta and Azerbaijan have been very strong due to the fact that the Public Broadcasting Services and Ictimai Television have worked closely together in order to ensure a successful partnership for this year and for many years to come. The fourth country to be performing on Thursday, the night of the second semi-final of this years' Eurovision Song Contest is none other than Malta, a country of mixed fortunes in the showcase especially as of late noting that the tide of the former century seems to have turned. This time round, the small nation in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea is being represented by Kurt Calleja and his entry bearing the name This Is The Night written by Johan Jämtberg, Mikael Gunnerås & Kurt Calleja. Kurt took his first singing audition when he was…
Ell & Nikki with their song Running Scared secured a victory for Azerbaijan for the very first time back in 2011 and therefore, all of the participants will be heading onto the Eastern nation to competing in this years' Eurovision Song Contest. The capital city, Baku is the one hosting and our critics have been quite busy preparing their verdicts on the respective tracks. There are a number of songs which have been coined as sure qualifiers along with others who are on the marginal scale it seems. The latter category is one which fits in perfectly with The Netherlands who will this year be represented by the upcoming performer Joan Franka and her song You and Me written by the artist herself alongside Jessica Hoogenboom. Joan Franka was born in Rotterdam on April 2, 1990. She has a Dutch mother and a Turkish father, who sadly died when she…
The dreaded draw in the running order has always been that of number #2 and this is due to the fact that no country has ever managed to win from such a starting position but then again, the rule does not seem to apply to qualification numbers as there have been a number of songs to have made it through therefore the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia do not really need to worry as they send what seems to be their best entry in a very long time actually by virtue of sending one of their most popular performers in the country. Kaliopi does not require an introduction to the people of the Balkan block and she enters the event with the song Crno I Belo to which she has penned the lyrics to the beautiful music of Romeo Grill who is a longtime collaborator. Kaliopi started her career when…
Our critics for the second semi-final of the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest were announced yesterday and a guest star from the local music scene will also be reviewing the entry for Sweden in the absence of Magnus Kaxe who is of course a leading Swedish songwriter. Kicking off the second evening this year will be none other than Serbia which is quite ironic noting that Montenegro is opening the first semi-final just two night before that. The former Yugoslavian nation has had a much better record than their counter-part but in the past two years, they have had to suffice with mediocre placings despite the submission of great songs to the event. They will be hoping that it will chance this year with Željko Joksimović, an artist who is somewhat of a trump-card. He will be performing the song Nije Ljubav Stvar written alongside Marina Tucaković and…
One of the key features that differs from our music related portal is professional reviews about the entries in the Eurovision Song Contest conducted by some of the most influential individuals in the music business. In fact, in the first semi-final, the editorial board of escflashmalta.com was proud to present a collaboration between songwriters and producers hailing from nations who have a lot of talent but then again, their backgrounds signified their important as well. Such projects have been continuously supported by our readers and therefore, we are proud to welcome a new panel of individuals who will be discussing the songs in the second semi-final. The second semi-final of this years' Eurovision Song Contest has been noted down to be quite a difficult one to obtain the position of a finalist from and this is due to the fact that there are a number of nations who somewhat have…

Ireland: Reviewing the track 'Waterline'

Written by
The final track of the first semi-final is going to be quite the bittersweet goodbye and this is due to the fact that Jan Van Dijck, Knut-Oyvind Hagen and the incredible production team at Pitchtunes will be bidding farewell having done their duties in the best possible way. Nevertheless, the show must go one for one last time in the first evening of the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan and closing the showcase will be Ireland, a country known to many fans as being the Queen of the event due to their history including seven victories. Trying to add to that impressive background will be the twins known as Jedward who will be performing the song Waterline written by Nick Jarl & Sharon Vaughn, the latter of which was one of the critics for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Last the year…

Moldova: Reviewing the song 'Lăutar'

Written by
The appointed critics for this years' edition of the reviews prior to the Eurovision Song Contest have been sharing their views on the tracks that are competing in this years' event and has somewhat agreed that whilst there are some smashing tracks in this first semi-final, the winner will most likely come out either of the second semi-final or through the five finalists that have made the billing due to their nations' status. The penultimate draw in the first evening set to take place on the 22nd May has been given to the country of Moldova who have had quite an entertaining set of entries throughout the years. This time round it does not seem to be any different as the singer; Pasha Parfeny will be taking to the stage to perform the song Lăutar which he wrote alongside Alex Brashovean. The song was chosen in a national final held…
One of the countries that has somewhat been phased out of the Eurovision Song Contest for quite some time due to what they stated to being a number of political issues returned in good form last year and will be hoping to maintain that as they take part in the 2012 edition of the competition which is being staged in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. In fact, the sixteenth position in the running order has been handed out to Austria who left this showcase following a disappointing result back in 2007 with Eric Papilaya and his song Get a Life, Get Alive. This time round, they are being representing by a group who actually finished in the runner-up position last year commonly known as Trackshittaz and the track that they are putting forward is actually in a dialect bearing the name Woki Mit Deim Popo written by Lukas Plöchl and…
