With the focus being on the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, one tends to lose touch with some of the acts that have become known through the national event and have continuously been representing the country with their respective talents. Scandinavia as a region has been quite predominant at the Eurovision Song Contest noting that the countries within this particular area have been taking part for quite some time and have racked up a number of victories but then again, one country which is considered to be a part of this group is yet to notch that top result and have been under-rated for a number of years despite the outstanding quality of their entries. This nation in question is Iceland, which despite boasting a very small population of less than half a million people has huge musical potential. Their proceedings for the national selection are set to comments this weekend and we have just been in touch with Íris Hólm, one of the entrants who have spoken to us about her participation as well as her career thus far. The Icelandic performer known as Íris Hólm has quite a…
In the past couple of weeks, we have been bringing you the latest news and interviews from artists within the local music scene, managing to shake it up a bit by speaking to individuals whose genres are diverse ranging from tenor Joseph Calleja to pop sensation Kevin Borg amongst others. We have decided to turn our attention to international music scene and get in touch with an artist who has already done things which many still dream of doing.
Over the past couple of months, our interviews have been mainly put on the spot, the acts within the Eurovision Song Contest or stars in the lead up to the actual show from a number of nations yet with sweltering heat, we turn our focus to the local music industry once more as we speak to one of the most peculiar acts to ever grace the stage of the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
Scaling the upper echelons of the local music industry, one would note that certain artists have reached degrees of success which are yet to be matched by anyone else. In recent weeks, we spoke to none other than Joseph Calleja, the tenor who is being hailed as the next Luciano Pavarotti and who has just entered the British Charts but moving onto a more contemporary artist who scaled success within the pop music industry, one would note one individual, who goes by the name of Kevin Borg.
The Malta Eurovision Song Contest which took place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in the capital city of Valletta proved to be a resounding success when it comes to quality and the results at the end of the evening saw two artists reach their first ever top three placing on their second participation. Earlier this year, we spoke to the first runner-up in the competition, Richard Edwards but this time round, we are going to be speaking to none other than the second runner-up in the competition, Kurt Calleja who continually continues to grow from strength to strength becoming a popular artist in the space of a very short period. His success with the song ‘Over and Over’ has prompted him to look towards greener pastures and this is something which he takes in with stride as should be. Within these questions, we will be looking at Kurt’s rise to…
Every now and then, it is extremely relevant that change takes place especially when it is for the better and today, we are unveiling a brand new chapter for our web-portal because we are going to commence a series of interviews with artists from the local music industry without any connection to the Eurovision Song Contest with their strengths lying within other genres of music. Following a long consultation process we have decided that the best way to initiate this project would be through none other than one of the most famous Maltese Ambassador, Joseph Calleja, a man of great stature, talent, dignity of grace. With an astounding background of performances all over the world, a summer concert in the Maltese Islands looming as well as the release of his much anticipated album, things cannot get more hectic. Today, we are going to be speaking about his musical endeavours in…
