Kelly Schembri, a finalist in the 2011 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest which took place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta has somewhat been busy in recent months with both modelling and vocal performing. Apart from being part of the girl-group Monroe who performed in Malta during the recent Malta Music Awards broadcasted on Television Malta, she has also collaborated with Stephen Davids and Honorebel on another track entitled Strip Search which has received positive acclaim upon it's release.

Honorebel is a well known recording artist hailing from Jamaica and has worked with the likes of Pitbull, Akon, Flo-Rida, Sean Kingston, Shaggy and Afrojack. Strip Search which was released late in 2012 is an electro-pop track which a number of interludes which feature the hip/hop genre. A catchy beat and a thumping bass line is surely enough to get the crowd going and it seems that the people behind the song are trying to create a true summer hit considering the fact that the release of the official video took place in the past couple of hours. One of the co-writers of the track is also Gerard James Borg, a leading lyricist in the industry who has worked on a number of successful chart successes in Belgium, Iceland, Sweden and Malta. With each and every passing year, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest sees a revelation – there’s always an act which comes out of nowhere and people simply fall in love with their entry. Two years ago, the talk of both the local and foreign fans was none other than Kelly Schembri who surprised quite a few of people with her number Love Me Like Your Money. The fresh upbeat entry was somewhat of a bombshell as our selection had never seen something quite like it in a way – well to say the least, there was quite a buzz around it and many saw it as the favourite to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. 

The entry went on to become quite a hit and its remix also hit the radios charts and was given lots of airplay. Kelly went on to shoot the video were the sensual message of the song was portrayed clearly. Back in Malta, specifically in the local selection, Kelly shared the stage with three friends, two of whom now form the upcoming band ‘Monroe’. This was surely a great launching platform in Malta for the UK based artist as she went on to release Kleptomaniac a year later and performed the entry in the 2011 Malta Music Awards where she earned two nominees for the Best Female Singer and for the Best Image. Kelly Schembri, also known as Kelly Stelfox with the international community has just released her first single with the girl band Monroe entitled Go Home.

The song has been well received thus far as they managed to launch it on BBC Introducing on BBC Radio London. The number can be described as fresh, current and one which oozes sensuality with various sounds that will easily make it a hit. The song has an electronic dance touch with an urban feel to it make that make this entry distinctive with all the ingredients necessary to be a radio hit. The girls have certainly come a long way and their first official single written by them surely proves this. The trio will be heading to Malta this weekend to perform this number to the Maltese audience at the Malta Music Awards. Gerard James Borg has earned himself one of the most notable accolades of his career noting that his latest international collaboration will definitely trump anything that has been done in the past including some of them which had been somewhat of a large magnitude. The renowned local songwriter has brought back two of his noteworthy contacts, Sven Lundholm and Eric Rydmark back together for another track noting that they had worked on the song Love Me Like Your Money for the 2011 Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The brand new track which also features the sultry vocals of Kelly Schembri and Stephen Davids entitled Strip-Search is mainly performed by the extremely popular Jamaican electro/pop/reggae artist Honorebel.

One of the artists to have attracted a lot of local and foreign interest during the 2011 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest is surely Kelly Schembri who performed the track Love Me Like Your Money written by Gerard James Borg and Sven Lundholm. The result might have been disappointing but Kelly was later asked to read out the votes during the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Since then, it seems that the singer has been keeping quite busy in the United Kingdom with her career in the art of modelling keeping music contacts intact as she and the rest of the ladies work on their debut release which will be an extended play featuring a couple of tracks.

The group which is formally known as Monroe is looking forward to debut their premier material, so much so that they are giving people the opportunity to listen to the track Life which will not be included in the extended play. The tracks that will be included are of a different type of genre which will definitely go down well with the people. The song in itself is quite an interesting fusion of pop with r'n'b and a couple of dance rhythm thrown in there just to give it that extra edge. The reality of it all is that it actually represents what is going on within the British Music Scene at the moment with the sound being very similar to that released by Cheryl Cole.
