One of the most awaiting national selections of each year is surely the one held in Sweden under the name Melodifestivalen and by the end of the showcase this time round, one which spun over a series of six weeks in total, it was Loreen with the song Euphoria that was crowned the winner. The track written by veterans Thomas G:son and Peter Bostrom features a mixture of pop and dance music intertwined into one with the emotional performance that the artist puts forward. The promotion for the song has been quite minimal but it seems that Warner Music Sweden might have their work cut out for them due to the fact that she has already been installed as the firm favourites by both the betting odds and the polls, a feeling which was last felt with regards to Norway back in 2009.

The only major problem that the Swedish entries have had to endure in recent years is the transformation to the Eurovision stage due to the fact that prerecorded vocals are not allowed and it seems that Ictimai Television might be giving them the way side on the required shots, way before rehearsals have even commenced. All of the problems are expected to be dealt with accordingly and the broadcaster, decided to release the names of the live backing vocalists that will be accompanying Loreen. They will be somewhere on the stage but hidden, hoping to keep the effect that the artist managed to show during Melodifestivalen.
The chosen ladies are Johanna Beiljbom, Britta Bergström and Monica Starck. Their portfolios are quite remarkable with the first being a backing vocalist for both Carola on behalf of Sweden in 2006 and then Olivia Lewis on behalf of Malta in 2007, the second backed up Alexey Vorobyov during his performance of Get You last year and the last one has worked with a number of Swedish artists in the past with her most recent one coming with Andreas Johnson. Sweden will be competing alongside Malta's Kurt Calleja and his song This Is The Night Stay tuned to www.escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news about the Eurovision Song Contest to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan this coming May.
