Slovenia: Rumours Suggest Nuša Derenda Chosen
Written by Marc Calleja BaylissSome of the competing nations at the Eurovision Song Contest are known to be underachievers because despite sending good material consistently, the results have not really added up and thus, have become somewhat collateral to the rest of the system. Slovenia is a very good example noting that since their initial participation way back in 1993 in Ireland, their best result has been a seventh (7th) place finish, achieved on two occasions; the first being in 1995 with Prisluhni Mi performed by Darja Švajger and the second one being in 2001 when Nuša Derenda sung the track Energy. Since the introduction of the semi-finals, they have only managed to qualify only twice out of the nine entries, the last being thanks to Maja Keuc and the track No One. It seems that following yet another dismal result this year with Eva Boto and the song Verjamem, they might be resorting to an internal artist selection in 2013.

RTVSLO have been rumoured to have already started proceedings in order to make sure that the result that will be achieved in Sweden next year will be positive especially when noting that the country has not finished in the top ten since Nuša Derenda managed the feat back in Copenhagen. The renowned Slovenian artist has always showed her excitement towards the competition wanting to return for a second time putting forth entries such as Prvič in zadnjič in 2003 finishing in second place, Noe Noe in 2005 finished in fourth place as well as Sanjajva in 2010 finishing in ninth place. The results have been quite positive though and she has managed to keep a very high profile in Slovenia. RTVSLO might be doing a good job by selecting her internally noting that the rumours are not coming out of fans of the Eurovision Song Contest with good intelligence coming forth from the broadcaster.
