Junior Eurovision 2016: Embrace Presented as SloganWritten by Marc Calleja Bayliss
“Embrace”, a term which passes on an extremely powerful message encompassing four values of the Junior Eurovision: connectivity, diversity, creativity and respect. This is the chosen slogan for the next edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which Malta will be hosting in Valletta, the capital city, revealed in a presentation led by PBS Chief Executive Officer, Anton Attard and Chairman, Tonio Portughese.
The announcement which also included the revelation of the artwork clearly depicted in the photo accompanying this article laid out a number of changes for the international competition which the small Mediterranean country of Malta has now won in two out of the last three years.
As a matter of fact, tele-voting has now been removed entirely from the equation noting that each country will present a jury comprising of 5 adults, and 5 children. The results read out from the country in the traditional: 1-8, 10 and 12 format will be those by the adult jury with the children then responsible for a cumulative vote.
This is one of the major changes, aligning itself with the idea that the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is targeting a family audience, hence the shift to Sunday afternoon at 4 pm as well as the participants’ age which is now between 9 and 14 years.
