Chiara, a female singer/songwriter who has represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest on three occasions; in 1998 with "The One That I Love", in 2005 with "Angel" and in 2009 with "What If We" has recorded several demos for Marc Paelinck over the years, and it is heart-warming knowing that her big belting voice is still pretty much existent.

In recent years, the balladeer has taken up a brand new genre, focusing more on dance, and pop rather than stick to what she has always done best. "Until I Find You" was one of the competing entries in the 2014 edition of the Festival Da Cancao, sung by Rui Andrade in Portuguese as "Ao Teu Encontro". It finished in 3rd place, just behind Suzy and Catarina, earning several positive comments from the international fan community. It was 9 years ago today, that 'Angel' had finished as the first runner-up following a stellar performance by Chiara on the Kiev stage.

In the past couple of weeks, Rui had the opportunity to join the Russian Delegation at the international song competition, having been asked to be a backing vocalist during the performance of 'Shine' by the Tolmachevy Twins. The song which eased through the first semi-final managed to finish in seventh place, despite the public outcry against the Eastern country. Late on Sunday edging towards Monday, the Eurofan Cafe was hosting an event with the spotlight being on Malta with Firelight in attendance along with Chiara, a special guest star whose three appearances at the Eurovision Song Contest have been seen by millions all over the world. Whilst promoting her brand new single Mermaid In Love, written by the same team behind Eg a Lif, the Icelandic entry at the 2013 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, she had the opportunity to have a short chat with Radio International's Juergen Boernig.

Sighting nerves as to being a guest at one of the events prior to the actual Eurovision Song Contest, Chiara settled in well and enjoyed the opportunity to meet old friends and wished Firelight and their entry Coming Home written by Richard Edwards Micallef all the very best of luck believing that the song had that special something which could see it succeed in such an international competition. She encouraged the group to enjoy their time, work hard and take as much as possible from the experience. Christmas songs in Maltese are not unheard of but you do not get to hear them so often – the more popular songs in English get priority and in recent years it seemed quite an unusual to hear a Christmas song in Maltese around this time of the year. One of the first song in Maltese to make a hit in recent years was the release of Ħelu Bambin sung by the popular Chiara alongside Ludwig Galea. The popular gospel choir Animae have decided to get into the Christmas spirit too with their take on one of the most popular Maltese Christmas songs Ninni La Tibkix Iżjed. The original song was written by Fr. Andrew Schembri back in 1846 but Animae alongside young talented singer Isaac Mercieca gave a song a facelift with a modern touch.

It is always great to hear a popular song with a different vocal arrangement to the one we are used to and Pamela Bezzina did a great job on that, whilst alongside Christian Borg, she also took care of the musical arranagement. The direction of the choir was left in the capable hands of Pamela Bezzina too, who seems to be the mastermind behind this track. Animae Gospel Choir is known for their perfect harmonies and takes on different popular songs. The journey started back in 2008 with ten well-known performers, nowadays the group is made up of 21 well established performers and their aim is to provide those listening to some true soul music. Have a listen to the track and leave your comments below on what you think about this number. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.
