In 2009, Chiara represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest for the third time with the track What If We composed by Marc Paelinck to the lyrics of Gregory Bilsen achieving a disappointing result. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that it was the beginning of something new for the female vocalist as she signed a record deal with an indepedent label based in Iceland with which she has already released three singles including; Forget Forgetting Me, Żarbun and 9 to 5, the latter being a duet with Hera Bjork. This evening, she will be giving an exclusive interview to Frederick Zammit on the radio programme; Euromix which airs on Radju Malta between 20:30 and 22:00 CET.

Since returning from her third participation within the international competition, the female artist has gone for a completely different genre, so much so that she even altered her image. The vocals are nevertheless very much present despite the dance music as the tracks have somewhat all been reworked in a Gloria Gaynor, I Will Survive manner. During the interview, Frederick Zammit, a notable personality synomous with the world of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malta will be discussing the terms of the record deal, the controversy creaed by her last solo single, motherhood and mermaids! Malta: Chiara Signs to Foreign Record Label

Chiara has earned an extremely respectable reputation throughout the years as a balladeer but nevertheless, it seems that in recent months she has taken up a brand new direction by virtue of changing her management as revealed during this mornings' programme of Ħadd Għalik hosted by Angie Laus on Television Malta. Following the performance of her latest single entitled 'Forget Forgetting Me' which has been written by two Swedes, two Icelandic and also a Maltese in the vein of Gerard James Borg, Chiara was quickly interviewed stating that she has moved away from her Swedish management and has just signed a record deal with Hands-Up Music. The three time Eurovision Song Contest representative has had her fair of success in foreign waters noting that her 2005 entry Angel not only finished as the runner-up entry but also charted in Germany and France respectively.

The newly signed record deal is surely a step forward for Chiara noting that the independent music company is known for also being the brains behind none other than Hera Bjork who represented Iceland in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with Je Ne Sais Quoi reaching the finals where it finished in nineteenth position with a total of forty-one points. The track in itself was a massive success in Scandinavia reaching number #1 in Iceland, #8 in Finland and also #49 in Sweden. Apart from supporting the 2010 entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, Hands-Up Music also supported the tracks from 2011 and 2012 respectively which also both made the final stages of the competition where they managed a mid to low table placing there. Nevertheless, their most successful performer thus far remains to be Hera Bjork. This is a huge step for Chiara and she has promised that more material will be coming in the upcoming weeks and months including a song which will include the subject of shoes in one way or another. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all the latest as soon as it becomes available.
