MESC 2016: Claudia Faniello Denies Rumours

"I decided not to go for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest this time around, focusing on myself and new material, as part of a larger collection", echoed Claudia Faniello to the editorial team of escflashmalta.com, amidst growing rumours that she was eyeing a comeback.

Claudia Faniello first emerged onto the local music scene with "High Alert", an original song which got through to the final stages of the Malta Song for Europe 2006 with the vocals of Olivia Lewis, who had to interpret another song, "Spare a Moment", having obtained more points. As a result, the renowned songwriter chose the younger of the Faniello siblings, and from then onwards, she has gone from strength to strength.

Finishing as the first runner-up in 2008 with "Caravaggio",  composed by Ray Agius with lyrics by Godwin Sant, and in 2012 with "Pure", composed by Philip Vella with lyrics by Gerard James Borg, Claudia has cemented her place as the most successful female artist in the national selection not to win the competition. Her last participation came in 2013, with "When It's Time", which the singer/songwriter penned to the music of Errol Sammut.

Since then, she has focused on developing her own genre, working on a further two singles; "One Fine Day" and "Miles Away", with a third one in tow. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about Malta's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

In 2006, Claudia Faniello made her debut within the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the track High Alert. Since then, the female vocalist has come an extremely long way, going onto release her debut album Convincingly Better with CAP Sounds with distribution handled by Universal Music Germany back in 2010.

This collection signalled the beginning of a new sound, one which surprised the public in a positive manner, ultimately leading to the release of When It's Time, a co-write with Errol Sammut which in turn competed as part of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2013. The track, written in a pop/rock genre finished in seventh place during the competition whilst managing to peak at number #2 on Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D on 89.7 Bay, where it has been given airplay for a relatively long period of time.

In support of the track, Claudia released an official music video, one which has amassed more than 11,000 views on viral website, YouTube, and which you could also view below. In an exclusive announcement to escflashmalta.com, Claudia Faniello revealed that she will not be entering the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in 2014, opting to work on her sophomore album alongside a number of esteemed songwriters.

escflashmalta.com is planning to support Claudia Faniello in all her upcoming endeavours, albeit, we have to be honest in stating we are going to be disappointed not to be seeing her name in lights for the first time in eight years. Her career thus far included two first runner-up finishes in the world of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, with Caravaggio in 2008 and Pure in 2012. In 2012, Pure composed by Philip Vella to the lyrics of Gerard James Borg with vocals by Claudia Faniello finished as the first runner-up at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The track went onto top the iTunes chart in the country, ahead of the winning entry, This is the Night which represented Malta at the international showcase, succumbing to a disappointing final position. Since then, the public have reportedly kept on asking Claudia to perform the track and indeed, she did during Echoes, a street concert in support of Puttinu Cares.

The difference between the performance at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest and the street concert is that at the latter, she performed the track in an unplugged manner and therefore, had to adapt with a timpani and a guitar. The result was fantastic and the emotion flowing through the vocals of the female vocalist was felt throughout the audience. Claudia Faniello returned to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year, with a track she co-wrote with Errol Sammut, one entitled When It's Time, finishing in second place and reaching number #2 on Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D on 89.7 Bay. Alongside her co-writer, she is working on her sophomore album, a follow-up to her debut Convincingly Better. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.

It has been quite the interesting season this year, especially with the lead up to the annual Eurovision Song Contest proving to be quite unpredictable most of the time with surprise victories all of the the continent including Russia, The Netherlands, Bulgaria and Malta amongst others. We have sought to make the experience as whole even more entertaining and that is why, we are preparing sublime coverage of the actual two weeks which will see the people in Europe even more interested in the ongoing process of rehearsals, press conferences and also interviews. When it comes to the actual shows, we have enlisted three incredible artists to help our team with the respective live commentary. In fact, we have already confirmed Raquela as the guest commentator for semi-final one whilst Simon Casey will be taking up the second semi-final. For the final, we would like to reveal the musical styling of Claudia Faniello who did the same thing just two years ago in 2010.

Since bursting out onto the local music scene, Claudia Faniello has been reaching new heights of success and one has to remember that she started on a local competition entitled Hotspot which aired on NET Television, also the beginning of the career for Cliff Zammit Stephens, Eleanor Spiteri, and Annabelle Debono amongst others. Following her initial participation in the Malta Song for Europe with the Ray Agius penned track High Alert originally performed by Olivia Lewis, she has not looked back, going onto win the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza the following year with the track Ma Nafx (I Don't Know). She has twice finished as the runner-up of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, the first in 2008 with the track Caravaggio and the second earlier this year with the song Pure. She is still the peoples' darling this year and the choice of Kurt still amazes everyone especially due to the fact that the public is still not behind him completely but warming up to him in general. Nevertheless, Claudia is moving forward and with a brand new brand which she spearheads entitled The Common Talk, she will surely reach more and more success. We are proud to have Claudia Faniello on board for yet another year.
