Iceland: Is It True? Goes Broadway

In the past couple of years, the Eurovision Song Contest has been consistently reclaiming fame and former splendour noted with the chart success of several tracks such as the runner-up entry in the 2009 edition known to be Is It Trueperformed by Yohanna on behalf of Iceland. The track managed to top the Icelandic charts whilst also peaking at number #2 in Sweden, #3 in Iceland, #4 in Finland and Greece and #9 in Switzerland but the most satisfactory position was surely at number #49 in the United Kingdom. The beautiful ballad only finished in second place to one of the most popular songs at the Eurovision Song Contest in a very long time, that being Fairytale by Alexander Rybak for Norway. It seems that the track has been uncovered as part of a brand new musical theatre show which is being staged in the United States of America.

One of the composers of the track is Tinatin Japaridze and she is currently starring in a preview for an upcoming musical by the name of 'W-E' which refers to 'West meets East'. It seems that she has teamed up with Timothy Graphenreed who himself is a Broadway veteran composer, arranger and musical director. They would like to share their lives with the rest of the cultured people, those who attend the theatre. The track Is It True? has also made the track list and will be performed during the show as part of the experiences that Tinatin had during her music career. It is important to note that this will be held on 58 West 72nd Street on the second floor at the Triad Theatre on the 2nd July. It is important to add that Tinatin is currently working on her memoir, with Chuck Taylor, a seasoned writer himself having been a correspondent of the popular Billboard magazine. In the meantime, Yohanna tried her best to represent Iceland once more with another track but ultimately failed to melt the hearts of the crowd and has now successfully moved to Norway. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news as soon as it becomes available.
