It’s hard to believe that the Public Broadcasting Services already has a line-up for the next edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with twenty entries set to compete for the ticket to represent Malta in Vienna, Austria. The national final, set to take place at the Marsa Shipbuilding on the 21st and 22nd November will be featuring a host of well known and upcoming stars, all vying to present their work, and garner the respect of the general public and the professional panel of judges. During the course of the weekend, the Public Broadcasting Services will be recording the Official Music Videos which will accompany the entries over the next couple of weeks. According to the rules and regulations, all the qualified entries could have been re-mastered, without the additional change in melodic structure, as has been the case in recent years. “In and Out of Love” written by Gorgi and Erik Rydmark, with vocals provided by Kaya, is currently competing for the right to represent Switzerland in the 2015 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The local singer/songwriter, a three time qualifier to the selection process in Malta, where she found success 14 years ago, finishing in 3rd place with the song “Our Love” composed by Alfred Zammit to the lyrics of Cynthia Sammut, did submit entries for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014-2015, failing to pass the first hurdle. In recent weeks, Kaya was competing in this year’s edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza in a duet with one of her students, Nicole Brincat. Their entry “Ħamsin Sena Nazzjon” composed by Mark Spiteri Lucas to the lyrics of Paul Ellul, mustered enough points to finish in a respectable 4th place. This was one of the most disappointing results for the…

Despite all of this, the national broadcaster is also talking to a number of record labels, and platforms such as the BBC Introducing in order to come up with a strong shortlist. Following the establishment of the shortlist, the British Broadcasting Corporation will appoint a professional panel of experts to select the next entry to represent the United Kingdom…
