On the 17th and 18th April 2015, at the Republic Hall in the Mediterranean Conference Centre, the Public Broadcasting Services will be staging ‘Amber in Concert - Warrior’, a spectacular event which will serve as a farewell concert to Malta’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. Joined by a 40-piece orchestra, inaugurated in December during ‘A Night at the Theatre’, under the direction of Maestro Paul Abela, composer of “Could It Be?” (Eurovision 1991), “In a Woman’s Heart” (Eurovision 1996) and “Another Summer Night” (2001), Amber will have the opportunity to perform several songs LIVE whilst accompanied by a variety of supporting artists, all of whom are instantly recognisable in the local music scene. On Saturday 4th April, the Grandmaster's Suite at the Hilton Hotel played host to Sanremo Junior Malta 2015, a national selection process in which a panel of professional judges selected three (3) artists from three (3) different age brackets, to represent Malta in Sanremo Junior 2015, held on the 15th April 2015 at the Ariston Theatre in Italy, whilst accompanied by an orchestra. Back in November, following the successful duties as host nation of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, "Warrior" composed by Elton Zarb, to the lyrics of Matthew Mercieca (Muxu) with vocals provided by Amber, was selected as Malta's entry for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. Since then, with the support of Arturo Pellegrini, Manolito Galea, Kevin Abela, Gordon Bonello and composer Elton Zarb, the music of the song has been re-worked, or rather strengthened, in order to give the song more depth. This brand new version, along with the accompanying music video will be officially launched on Monday 9th March at 16:00 CET at the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) Creativity Hub. On the 11th January 2015, in her capacity as Director of La Voix Academy, Gillian Attard confirmed the acquisition of exclusive rights to partake in “Una Stella Sta Nascendo”. Several students put their name forward, and the aforementioned singer/songwriter/coach is proud to reveal that a total of 23 vocalists got through to the final stage of the competition, organised by SKY Italia. 7th March, save the dates! The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will be naming their representative artist and entry for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria. Someone will be following in the footsteps of Molly Smitten-Downes whose entry “Children of the Universe” only managed mid-table. Il Volo, an operatic-pop trio, comprising of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble have just been revealed as winners of the 2015 Sanremo. Their song entitled "Grande Amore", written by Francesco Boccia and Ciro Esposito managed to beat stiff competition from pre-competition favourite, Nek and his song "Fatti Avante Amore", written by Nek, Luca Chiaravalli, Andrea Bonomo and Luigi Fazio. ESC 2015: Denmark First of the Nordics to Select

After an eventful weekend, we are getting slowly but surely closer to seeing who will be representing the Nordics in Vienna, Austria, during the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. As ever, Melodifestivalen kicked off with a bang. Hosted by 2014 winner Sanna Nielsen whom made a surprisingly decent hostess. Eric Saade qualified for the final as expected and Jessica Andersson also qualified directly to the final whilst the unique Dolly Style and Behrang Miri featuring Victor Crone will participate in the Andra Chansen round in Helsingbrorg on 7th March. Fredrik Kempe already has one song in the final upholding his seemingly annual tradition. An all-round successful evening but nothing scandalous or controversial. Jessica performed well and Eric, despite the negativity managed to stir the crowd. We now have a pleasant ballad and upbeat, up-tempo song already in contention.
