The amount of competitions that take place during the year in Malta is surprisingly high but then again, there are a number of showcases which attract the biggest stars in the music industry and these are of course; the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, the Malta Summer Hit Song Contest, the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza and the Għanja tal-Poplu. Two of the mentioned ones are held in the national language of the country being Maltese and therefore even more special so to speak noting that it is a rare occasion for original tracks in Maltese to be released onto the music market which has been predominantly been based in English due to the possibility of exporting the material. We are prime supporters of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza with two editorial board members being part of the Committee as well.

The preparations for this years' competition have long in commenced actually noting that there are two categories; the Established Category which includes twenty (20) entries in total as well as the Teenage Category which includes a total of ten (10) entries, competing for the top three (3) covered positions. The draw for the running order can only be held for the first category and as revealed during the programme Sas-Sitta, there has already been contact with the artists about the recording of the interviews as well as the official videos of the songs which are being recorded for the very first time in order for each act to have the maximum possible promotion. Have a look at the running order as revealed during the programme just a couple of minutes ago.

This time round, the list of participants who made it through to the second phase showcases a change in guard with the most popular performers gaining their credibility in recent years noting that their stardom is still somewhat recent.
