KKI 2016: Dario Bezzina Emerges as the Winner

It has been a couple of weeks since the 25th edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, and the return to the Floriana Granaries was very well received by the public present. With all the festivities surrounding Independence Day back to their roots, the evening was buzzing with an air of excitment, and following the performance of 24 participating entries; 20 pre-qualified in the ‘Talent Stabbilit’, 1 through with the same category via tele-voting and another 3 which came through ‘Talent Ġdid’, the winner was announced as “Se Naslu Żgur”, written by Ray Agius, and sung by Dario Bezzina.

Hosted by Toni Busuttil, Mireille Bonello and Christine Haber, this year's edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, which was aired on NET Television, saw a smooth transition of performances, with the the list of participating artists featuring a good mixture of newcomers and veterans. The professional members of the jury was made up of a mixture of musicians, and media personalities, instantly recognisable by many. A full list of the results may be viewed below.

Spiteri Lucas Entertainment, in conjuction with Media.Link Communications retired the format of Sas-Sitta in favour of a fresh take on a Saturday afternoon programme, Sibt Familja, which also incorporates light entertainment, interviews and a lot of laughter. Ray Attard, is joined by Debbie Scerri, 1997 representative in the Eurovision Song Contest as hosts and are known to welcome a number of personalities from all walks of life. The programme kicks off at around 13:30 CET and finishing at about 16:00 CET, meaning around two and a half hours of pure family entertainment for all. It is broadcast on NET Television.

Former Malta Eurovision Song Contest finalists; Nadine Axisa and Fiona Cauchi will both be featuring with television personality Matthew Calleja in a series of fun games. It is also impossible to deny these two wonderful performers the chance to perform a track from their very own repertoire, be it a cover or an original. As always, music on the show is played by a LIVE band under the direction of Maestro Mark Spiteri Lucas. Other attractions include female fashion trends by resident experts Rita Gatt and photographer Clint Gerald together with a team of models as well as comedian, Toni Busuttil. Malta: 'Sibt Familja' set to feature Davinia

Spiteri Lucas Entertainment, in conjuction with Media.Link Communications retired the format of Sas-Sitta in favour of a fresh take on a Saturday afternoon programme, Sibt Familja, which also incorporates light entertainment, interviews and a lot of laughter. Ray Attard, is joined by Debbie Scerri, 1997 representative in the Eurovision Song Contest as hosts and are known to welcome a number of personalities from all walks of life. Today, singer/songwriter Lyndsay Pace, will be competing against veteran broadcaster Charles Saliba, in a series of fun games. The programmes' vocal entertainment will be provided by Neville Refalo and Ivan Spiteri Lucas who have both been in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest at least once, as well as Davinia, who is set to compete in the upcoming edition of the internationally followed showcase with the track Brand New Day composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt Mercieca. The hot seat will be featuring none other than Fr Karm DeBattista. Other attractions include female fashion trends by resident experts Rita Gatt and photographer Clint Gerald together with a team of models as well as comedian, Toni Busuttil. Gianluca, the male artist who represented Malta in this years' edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the track Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat will be making a guest appearance on the weekly variety show, Sas-Sitta which airs on NET Television between 14:35 and 18:00 CET. The programme produced by Spiteri Lucas Entertainment features a quiz in every programme and Gianluca will be joined by his sister Dorothy as they play against Klinsmann and Kylie Coleiro, both former finalists of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest.

 

Sas-Sitta, collaborators of escflashmalta.com for the Annual Awards given in light of the national selection is hosted by Ray Attard and Debbie Scerri, the latter having also represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1997, performing the track Let Me Fly written by Ray Agius to finish in ninth place. The male host alongside comedian Toni Busuttil will also be showcasing their vocal skills as they impersonate famous singers for the very last time, whilst accompanied by the programmes' band led by Mark Spiteri Lucas, one of the most successful composers in the local music industry.
