MESC 2013: Bright Skies for Richard Edwards

Written by
In about three weeks time, the names of the twenty-four semi-finalists competing in the 2013 Malta Eurovision Song Contest will be revealed to the public through the popular television programme; Xarabank which is hosted by Peppi Azzopardi on a Friday evening but before that, a clear analysis of the people who have submitted their entries in the competition is being made by the editorial team of escflashmalta.com due to the fact that history does tend to play a very important role in Malta for the simple reason that the country is small and preferences do not tend to differ except amongst different demographics. One of the names who has been garnering support across the board in the past two years has surely been none other than Richard Edwards, the younger brother of Wayne Micallef who has emerged as a star in his own right picking up votes from the public…
Glen Vella has notoriously earned himself the title of one of the leading male performers in the country over a period of time due hard work, dedication and pure loyalty to all of his followers. Since representing Malta in the 2011 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest held in Dusseldorf, he has gone onto release at least two follow up singles which have been given airplay on the leading commercial station in Malta, that being 89.7 Bay Radio and has earned a number of accolades within the nations' leading award ceremonies. Nevertheless, in these past couple of weeks, he has been touring quite a but noting visits to the Scandinavian country of Sweden and also the United Kingdom where two separate OGAE events were taking place. The performances which he gave in both showcases received rapturous applause and that continues to confirm his standing amongst the fans of the international…

Malta: Ira Losco Keeps Options Open

Written by
Recognition is the key for success and if this is achieved in a gradual manner, therefore it becomes even more positive. This is surely the main element why Ira Losco has become the artist she has today because she has used every experience in her favour and ultimately created a music niche which not many tend to have. Development is equally important and together with Howard Keith of Jagged House, there was the creation of a brand, a true artist with a pop/rock vibe with the possibility of expansion above and beyond. It is quite hard to recall that this individual also represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2002 but with the submissions for the local showcase coming to an end earlier this week, she was a guest on Bla Agenda hosted by Norman Hamilton on ONE Television. There were a number of issues dealt with in…

MESC 2013: Romina Mamo Enters the Picture

Written by
It has only been a couple of days since the submissions of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest to a close with the announcement from the Public Broadcasting Services that they received a total of 182 entries from various performers, some of which we were able to confirm through eyewitnesses present outside of the broadcasting house throughout the two day period. Credibility is one of the most successful traits that any artists could bank on when entering any competition and it seems that Romina Mamo has also submitted her entries for the competition according to her official profile on social networking website; Facebook. This does not really come as a surprise noting that the performer has always been an avid fan of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Romina Mamo first managed to make it through to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest back in 2003 with the song Here Today Gone Tomorrow …
Earlier this week, the Public Broadcasting Services was receiving entries for the upcoming edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest which will be taking place either at the end of January or the beginning of February respectively. The announcement of the twenty-four semi-finalists will be made at the end of the month, 30th November 2012 on the popular television programme; Xarabank hosted by Peppi Azzopardi. This should not come to a surprise for many considering that the renowned programme was also the one to make the initial announcements earlier this year. There is a lot of hype with regards to the upcoming competition due to the fact that this years' representative; Kurt Calleja was the first to make it through to the final of the annual Eurovision Song Contest since 2009 with his entry This Is The Night. The editorial team of escflashmalta.com was present throughout both days of submissions…

Malta: Ira Losco headlines Innovative Soiree

Written by
When George Cremona, my secondary Maltese teacher and nowadays, a great friend of mine, told me about this innovative idea … I was already thinking about writing this article about this great event which I’m sure, will delight both the young audience, but also, the older generation. Cremona, casually encountered Trevor Zahra’s book “Il-Ktieb tal-Fenek l-Ahmar” (The Red Rabbit’s Book), which was written in 1986. Trevor Zahra is one of the most popular Maltese writers, who adapts his stories to the young generation, but also writes books and novels for the older ones. The book’s main character, the Red Rabbit, became a very close friend of Cremona, and thus, they built such a strong bond, that they started to work on this project together, back in November 2011. Thus, Cremona manages to merge two main roles of his everyday life. First and foremost, that of a dedicated teacher and educator,…

Malta: Animae Gospel Choir Travel to Italy

Written by
Projects come into existence thanks to ideas which flow from one individual to another an in fact, the Gospel Choir which has today become known as Animae was originally the fruit of thought of Glen Vella, Pamela and Leontine who have somewhat gained fame in their own right through competing in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the male counterpart eventually finishing as the winner back in 2011 and thus representing Malta on an international scale. Nevertheless, the focus here is on the choir which is currently abroad in Assisi, Italy for the first time in order to participate in a music workshop. Gospel is the genre which is being covered during this particular event which brings about together several artists from Italy, who aim to learn from a set of tutors from the United States of America including Pastora Ronald Ixacc Hubbard, Pastor Keith Moncrief, The Fabolous Five, Rodney…
The Malta Eurovision Song Contest has always been one of the most reputable competitions in which any artist from any particular genre can promote his music and that is why, there has been a lot of diversity throughout the years. The Public Broadcasting Services revealed that they received a total of 182 entries, a record since they took over the selection process back in 2010, reinventing it to make it look more professional in terms of song quality and staging. We managed to gather a number of names who went in the broadcasting house to submit their entries but none of our team could be available to stay there all day and one name we seemed to have missed out is that of Lawrence Gray, who is trying to mark his ninth participation in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The editorial board at escflashmalta.com can now reveal that he did…
The editorial board of escflashmalta.com can exclusively reveal that the internationally acclaimed; songwriter and producer of the track Euphoria performed by Loreen, the outright winner of the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest held in Baku, Azerbaijan has written a song for next years' Malta Eurovision Song Contest which will be held either in January or February. The song will be performed by a local artist whose name is still a mystery, and it is highly likely that a Maltese songwriter is also involved in this track either in the form of a composer or a lyricist. Thomas G:son, who is one of the biggest and most connected songwriters in the Swedish music industry, has a stunning Eurovision pedigree that includes Invincible for Carola in 2006 finishing in fifth place, Listen to Your Heartbeat by Friends in 2001 also finishing in fifth place, then writing I Love You Mi…

Written by
The first day of submissions came and quickly passed and it seems that the activity surrounding the offices of the Public Broadcasting Services was not as hectic as one might have expected but then again, it has been known that many leave until the last minute to submit their tracks with which they hope that could represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest.
