D.R.E.A.M.S: Unresolved Issues Grow This Evening

Fejn Tħobb il-Qalb and Fjura Fil-Kantina are two of the most recognised songs in the local music industry and tend to be played heavily either on radio or through guest appearances. They were both composed by none other than Maestro Ray Agius, one of the most renowned songwriters in the country. Despite being known mostly for writing the music, he has also been the individual behind some fantastic lyrics, making him a true all rounder. Nevertheless, his role in the series series entitled D.R.E.A.M.S is that of composer with lyrics being written by Michael Vella Haber and Evelyn Saliba La Rosa. Malta: Kevin Borg Back for Major Concert

Kevin Borg, first runner-up at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the track Needing You which he co-wrote with Michael Clauss, Simon Gribbe, Thomas Thornholm and Danne Attlerud will be returning to his home country in order to give a major concert. This event set for the 10th May 2013 will be taking place in the locality of Å»ejtun and will be kicking off this years' edition of The Beland Music Festival in aid of Puttinu Cares. In recent years, this prestigious week long of activities has been receiving a lot of exposure and attention from both locals and foreigners. Entertainment is offered for the whole week free of charge with a number of volunteers going round and collecting donations for a just cause. Malta: Official Music Video for 'Strip Search'

Kelly Schembri, a finalist in the 2011 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest which took place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta has somewhat been busy in recent months with both modelling and vocal performing. Apart from being part of the girl-group Monroe who performed in Malta during the recent Malta Music Awards broadcasted on Television Malta, she has also collaborated with Stephen Davids and Honorebel on another track entitled Strip Search which has received positive acclaim upon it's release. Honorebel is a well known recording artist hailing from Jamaica and has worked with the likes of Pitbull, Akon, Flo-Rida, Sean Kingston, Shaggy and Afrojack. Strip Search which was released late in 2012 is an electro-pop track which a number of interludes which feature the hip/hop genre. GħTP 2013: Youth Triumphs Over Experience

Maltese, the national and co-official language of Malta and somewhat the most popular in terms of daily communication noting that English plays a major role within several roles of the work place and education amongst other things. Last night, this language was given utmost importance through the medium of song noting that nineteen (19) original tracks were presented to an audience to highlight the respective use in a competition known as L-Għanja tal-Poplu. This annual showcase will soon be turning forty and therefore has a vast heritage with ample followers, both from a musical and a lyrical point of view. The evening was conducted by Frank O'Neill, a former finalist as well as Valerie Vella, former host of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. The event will be shown on ONE Television next Saturday but in the meantime, we can let you know the results of the evening nevertheless. GħTP 2013: The Stage is Set for Tomorrow

First rehearsals for this years' edition of the L-Għanja tal-Poplu competition took place within the Sir Temi Å»ammit Hall on Thursday evening amidst tension surroundings noting that the University of Malta campus was going through council elections but nevertheless, the stage is seemingly set for another stunning showcase tomorrow night. The themes for this years' competing songs are extremely varied but it has to be noted that there are a couple of similarities in themes such as marriage and corruption for example. We do not intend to release any details of the genres or the performances themselves because the show will eventually be shown on television at a later date but we can indeed promise you that there will surely be a couple to your liking. KKI 2013: Rules and Regulations Published

Miriam Christine and Claudia Faniello are two of the most notable names in the local music industry and they owe part of their success to the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza organised by Media.Link Communications. The competition has a lot of significance for the simple reason that all of the submitted entries have to be original and in Maltese, the national language of the country. Keep Me In Mind performed by Mike Spiteri and Let Me Fly sung by Debbie Scerri were both written by Maestro Ray Agius, one of the most accomplished songwriters in the present generation. Apart from penning the aforementioned tracks which represented the country at the Eurovision Song Contest achieving success within the top ten internationally, he has also written tracks such as Fejn Tħobb il-Qalb and Fjura fil-Kantina, both sung by Mike Spiteri. KKI 2013: Committee Unveils Competition Logo

Jekk Nużaw Moħħna, composed by Mark Spiteri Lucas to the lyrics of Joe Chircop with vocals provided by Deborah C was the winner of last years' edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza. Marilena Gauci was the first runner up with the song Bl-Ikbar Serjetà composed by Philip Vella with lyrics by Joe Chircop with the second runner-up being none other than the song Tama u Kuraġġ performed by Domenique to the tune of Philip Vella and the lyrics of Cher Vella. Preparations for this years' edition has commenced, albeit late and it is expected that the rules and regulations will be released throughout the course of the week. In 2010, Media.Link Communications announced that Mark Azzopardi would become chairman of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza replacing Frederick Zammit who had done an astonishing job in the previous years. KKI 2013: Karen DeBattista becomes the First Finalist

Karen DeBattista, a nineteen year old performer from Mosta, one of the largest localities in the country has become the first finalist in this years' edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza. Whilst not being an entirely new face to the local music scene, it seems that she will be following in the footsteps of Simone Gauci who came out of nowhere during the previous year to win Passport 2 Indifest beating jury favourite Marie Claire Attard Bason. In an extraordinary turn-around, the professional jury put her in the first runner-up position finishing in the same slot for the second year running. It is worth noting that Marie Claire Attard Bason has already competed in the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza with the song Ma Rridx Ninbidel composed by Sean Vella to the lyrics of Rita Pace in a first time bid within the local music scene. KKI 2013: Juries to Select First Finalist

1964 by Annabelle Debono is one of the most iconic tracks to have ever won the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendendenza and later on today, she will be amongst a panel of judges selecting the first finalist for this years' edition of the local spectacle. She will be joined by former participants; Neville Refalo and Janvil whose expertise in field will definitely be a positive characteristic. The two finalists of the Passport 2 Indifest competition are none other than Marie Claire Attard Bason, a former Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza finalist and Karen DeBattista, a former finalist in the Malta Hit Song Contest. Both have an outstanding resumè and both are relatively young but one will get the direct qualificiation, with the other one choosing whether to submit a track within a normal process.
