Since their return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Malta has posted a series of successful results, including two victories in 2013 and 2015 and top ten results in each of the other years. L-Għanja tal-Poplu Żgħażagħ 2018 was held towards the end of last week, precisely on Friday 2nd March 2018 in the Theatre of St Benedict School in Ħal Kirkop. All of the participants were between 11 and 16 years of age and they presented original material in Maltese, singing about current themes which are close to their heart. 30 semi-finalist participants, shortlisted by a panel of ‘expert judges’ on CD, were put under a #live test in front of a second panel of professional ‘expert judges’, and the final verdict was released earlier on Tuesday 5th December with a total of 17 songs put forward to the festival, L-Għanja tal-Poplu Żgħażagħ 2018.
