Through the 8 o'clock news bulletin, the Public Broadcasting Services gave the first airplay to "Walk On Water", an original song co-written by Lisa Desmond, Tim Larsson, Tobias Lundgren, Molly Pettersson-Hammar and Ira Losco, the latter of which was chosen as the representative through the Malta Eurovision Song Contest which took place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre back in January. Reception thus far has been extremely positive, with the bookmakers instilling a positive outlook on Malta's chances for success at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

From an objective point of view, "Walk On Water" is a modern pop song, with hints of dance and soul, not too different from the genres scaling the charts all over the world at the moment, noting the relevant success of acts such as Sigma and Emeli Sande. The highlight of the song, apart from the rousing beat, is the last minute which features soaring vocals.

The music video, features the female singer/songwriter in various outfits, accompanied by a male dancer most of the time in several locations in Malta and Gozo. It is very well produced, and adds an aura of professionalism towards the effort that the people behind Malta's participation in the international competition is putting. We urge you to support Malta, and stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

Gerard James Borg, one of Malta's most successful songwriters, responsible for penning the lyrics for no less than 6 competing entries in the Eurovision Song Contest has recently been involved in a project, a new single entitled "Revolving Doors" featuring Hallgrimur Oskarsson as the composer, and Johanna Gudrun (Yohanna) as the lead vocalist.

Yohanna, the runner-up in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with "Is It True?" and recipient of the maximum 12 points from the Maltese Tele-Vote and Professional Jury, has kept a rather low profile since trying to return to the international competition back in 2013, noting that she gave birth in October 2015.

Her comeback single "Revolving Doors", is a beautiful ballad, with hints of country, which soars into true vocal depth. On the other hand, Gerard has focused his creative talent on novels, and thus far it seems that he has been truly successful, noting the release of two best-sellers; "Sliema Wives" and "Madliena Married Men".

You can listen to the song, whilst also following the lyrics through the video below, as we urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

At the end of January, Ira Losco was chosen by the professional jury, and the public-at-large as the winner of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with "Chameleon", an original song she co-wrote with Howard Keith, Peter Borg and Matthew James Borg, collectively known as Talkback.

Just a couple of days later, it emerged that the Public Broadcasting Services, in discussion with both Ira Losco and Howard Keith, that revisiting the song was an option, and indeed it was revealed that "Chameleon" entered in a tight race with another nine (9) original songs, which would be judged by numerous local and foreign experts.

Just days ago, a new cover photo on the Eurovision Song Malta page on social media website Facebook was uploading with the symbol and three letters, #WOW. It might be an acronym but the blood is boiling and tensions are rising as expectations soar. Ira Losco and her team are currently filming the music video, getting ready to submit the final package during the Heads of Delegation Meeting this Monday and Tuesday.

She is expected to also appear on Xarabank on Friday 18th March, a day following the release date slated for Thursday 17th March 2016. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

The 40th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu, will be undergoing a radical change, as it will be merging with the Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija, with the support of the Creative Space, The Malta Council for the Arts, and the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS). The aim of this re-branding is to ensure that the local music scene, and most particularly, the Maltese language flourishes further.

Those who will be lucky to make it to the final shortlist will have the opportunity to be accompanied on stage by the Public Broadcasting Services Orchestra, which made it’s official debut a couple of months back, under the leadership of Maestro Joe Brown, and Maestro Paul Abela.

Each submission, not longer than 3 minutes and a half, will be received at the L-Għanja tal-Poplu Offices at 227, Merchant Street in Valletta, against a payment of €30 on the 19th April 2016. The committee will also give 2 complimentary tickets to the artist who submits a song. Following in the footsteps of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, L-Għanja tal-Poplu – Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija will be staged at ‘Pjazza Teatru Rjal’ in Valletta.

It is also worth noting that another innovative change is that the event will be organised on two evenings, on the 7th and the 9th July. The idea is to have a semi-final and a final, as opposed to just a one-nighter event. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook or Twitter for all the latest news about the local music scene.

In 2014, Nadine Axisa released "Velvet", a twelve track collection of original songs in smooth jazz style. Since the launch of the album, the veteran female singer has kept herself rather busy both locally and overseas.

She performed in "A Night of Modern Jazz" (May 2014), Perugia (July 2014), the Italian Jazz Festival in Berlin (December 2014), 'SONGS' (January 2015), and the Mediterranean Literature Festival (August 2015), among others. Her most recently performance was in Frankfurt in December 2015 at the European Cultural Days of the European Central Bank.

The album received favourable reviews including a four star review on the UK's Jazz Journal. Moreover, it was featured on local and international radios; the latter include virginiamusic.eu (a radio station dedicated to female jazz vocalists, Netherlands); 'Mainly jazz' on Alive 107.3fm, UK; RTP Play which is Portugal's official radio station and Channel Radio, UK.

On the 11th and 12th March 2016, Nadine will be performing the album 'Velvet' in its entirety at Robert Samut Hall Floriana, accompanied by four excellent musicians who will bring a wealth of experience to this performance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgScljmLF00

For those who are already familiar with the album tunes, the event will be an opportunity to listen to the tunes interpreted by different musicians, with slight but effective and engaging changes to the arrangements. For Velvet first timers, it will be a night of smooth jazz tunes, fresh and relaxing melodies; an exquisite infusion of swing, latin and ballads.

Nadine will be accompanied by Joe Debono (piano), Oliver Degabriele (double bass), Joseph Camilleri (drums) and Walter Vella (saxophone and flute). These four jazzmen have studied their own discipline; they hold a track record of recording and performing with various artists both locally and internationally.

In order to obtain tickets for the event, costing €14 (or €12, early bird) please visit www.ticketline.com.mt, we urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about the local music scene.

Have you had a look at your calendar? It is already February, and that could only mean that the national finals season is well and truly underway, with the choices for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest being made as the weeks go by! This year, 43 participating broadcasters will be fielding entries in what has been coined the biggest entertainment spectacle in the world.

We had the opportunity to speak to some of the acts who are hoping to win their nations' ticket, and the 3rd to grace us with an interview is Bella C, who will be singing the song "Another World", written by Ricardo Sanz, Steven Parry and Borislava Panosetti, during Die Entscheidungsshow, the Swiss National Selection.

How does it feel to be part of the national selection with the song "Another World"?

Aaah, it's just an amazing feeling being part of this ESC family! I am extremely happy to be part of the selection!

Who had the idea that you could participate in the Swiss national selection and who decided "Another World"?

The decision about ESC came absolutely spontaneous. It was just few days before the dead line. All happened very fast, and we ( me and a friend of mine) didn't had time even to think much. For a week we completed the writing of the song, recorded it, made an arrangement in the studio, shoot the video and ... Uploaded it to the platform . 4 - 5 hours before dead line :-) Just like a movie running on a fast lane...but it was worth doing it!!!

What is the message of "Another World"?

Another world" it's a very dramatic, emotional and breath taking ballad. The text of the song came out very fast, it was Just pouring out of my fingers. At that particular moment  I felt very much involved in the world's situation. I mean : crises, personal dramas, aggression, anger, hate..etc.. Lots of negative emotions. We are living in a fast world, concentrated on well being and money. Somehow lost in this endless matrix we forget the most important think. The LOVE. And I don't talk only about love between partners and couples. I speak generally about love and respect between people. We just need to be more good with each other and change this world to "Another World" of Love..the lyrics were my message to all of us.. "Let's spread love. We can do it, if we hold together".

You were born in Bulgaria, why have you decided to submit a song for Switzerland and not for Bulgaria?

I left Bulgaria when I was 17. Travelled around the world, exploring life and different countries and mentalities. The will of fortune brought me to Swiss in 1999. The plan was to stay here just one month-than to go back to Cyprus ( at that time I was working there). Here in Swiss I felt like "Alice in wonderland" - good people, beautiful places, wonderful nature, respectful  public, Good food.. Hmmm ;-)  and amazing friends! It just felt right, and no one let me go back to Cyprus! So glad I stayed. Everything I am now its the result of what I've learned for the last 17 years in this country. Swiss is my second-first home, that's why I decided to sing for Swiss

Can you tell us something about the beginning of your career?

I started my music career 20 years ago. Traveling between Cyprus, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Turkey, Sweden, Norway , Singapore, China, Japan even Lapland ( on -40'C ) :-)  was interesting experience to see and feel all those countries. I was doing cover songs. Than I decided to reduce stage performances and to learn more about music. Went to a studio, and start composing. I did 1-2 albums, I worked with some known Swiss musicians, but basically I wanted to develop myself as a song writer and studio musician.. Some years later I realized I was missing live performances, and than I start parallel with studio work, some small shows.. Than bigger ones, and bigger ones.. I had the honor to share the stage with Nelly Furtado, The Hurts, Loreen , ( ESC 2012) , Tom Odell ... I'm really enjoying my life as a musician. It's exciting, and there is nothing else in the world I wanna do, but singing and playing piano. :-)

What are you expecting in the national selection “Die Entscheidungsshow”, are you excited?

Just few days ago we started the year of fire monkey (by Chinese calendar) the year of surprises and unexpected endings... I really don't know who may win, how the night will be, how the people will vote and what the jury will decide.. The only think I know is that I will sing and perform with 100 % emotions and fire in me.. Counting the days and the hours to 13.02. Very excited about it!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcnWysA9gxo

How do you prepare yourself for the show?

I am preparing mostly mentally For 13.02. I wanna be calm so I can deliver better results. Also working on my English and my face expressions (in front of camera, less is more)

Are you a Eurovision fan?

I am big fan!! :-) Yes, I have been following ESC since some years. Always keeping eye on who is singing, what kind of songs, I even voted few times. Some how I feel myself part of this Europe music family. :-)

Which are your favorite Eurovision songs and what is your favorite from Swiss entries?

Of course - Celine Dion is my biggest inspiration when I think about Swiss ESC performer. I have only one word for her - amazing"! This power and at the same time easiness of her performance were breathtaking for me! Chapeau!!!

Some of my favorite songs are "Euphoria" (Loreen 2012), "Molitva" (Maria Serifovic 2007) the classic in this format "Waterloo" (ABBA 1974)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLPlhvgE9qA

What is your first Eurovision memory?

The first one was again Celine Dion. 1988!

What kind of music do you like personally?

I do music since so many years, playing a different styles, from classic to rap and latest music hits. It's really hard to say. I love dancing, so I guess any music, that touches my heart and make me jump and dance, it's my kind of music :-)

Who is Bella C as private person?

Bella C is a home person. I enjoy spending time with friends, laughing and joking and smiling. Really love being home, love sports, don't love cooking ;-) hahaaa.... But I enjoy good food! I am addicted to music. Can't stay long without it. When I go on a holiday, already on the second day I am searching for a bar or restaurant with live music.. I think I am seriously addicted!! :-)

What are your plans for 2016 beside the Swiss national selection, are you working on a album?

My plans? Well .. My plans are always connected with music. It was like this before ESC and it will be that way after ESC. My music agenda it's kind of full for 2016 already. I have in plans to do lot of gigs, parties, studio jobs, recording of songs.. Also idea for an interesting album it's also in vision! Bella C it's a music soldier since 20 years and I guess it will go on like this for the next 20 years! :-)

What was the most excited moment in your life?

The most exciting moment it's about to come on 13.02.  :-)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZMmrDGbz_g

What are your wishes for the future?

Good health, motivation, balance, creativity, love and applause from fans, wonderful  moments with friends and family, also quite times and good holidays somewhere surrounded by sand and palms.... Aaaaahh... I would love that! :-)

If people outside Switzerland never heard about you before – what should they know about you?

They should know that I am hard working Bulgarian, who lives for the music

Your song “Another World” is a strong ballad and has everything what a Eurovision ballad needs – what do you think about your changes?

Yes, the " Another World" it's a strong and very emotional ballad.. That kind of ballad suits the taste of Balkan ears. It's timeless, it's like evergreen,it's melodic and dramatic with positive message - to be more good with eachother and share and show more love. I think the package of song, voice, look and nationality can motivate all my Balkan neighbors to vote for me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqjoM8ZlyMc

Why should the Swiss audience vote for your song to represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2016?

Bucause I am different choice from the candidates till now. I think they never sent a Bulgarian to represent them. :-)  I will be honored to do it!!!

Do you have a message for the readers of escflashmalta.com and your fans?

Dear readers and fans, stay healthy and happy! Keep giving, showing and sharing love!

Keep listening to wonderful Eurovision songs and keep fingers cross for me! I promise I will give the best I have to make you proud of me!! Send you all my love and care!!!!! This year, 43 participating broadcasters will be fielding entries in what has been coined the biggest entertainment spectacle in the world.

We had the opportunity to speak to some of the acts who are hoping to win their nations' ticket, and the 2nd to grace us with an interview is Justs Sirmais, who will be singing the song "Heartbeat", written by Aminata, during the Latvian National Selection.

Hello Justs, how does it feel to be part of the Latvian national selection “Supernova 2016” with your song “Heartbeat”?

Well I could say, that I am feeling very thrilled about all that is happening because I haven’t experienced before such a big attention for my music from so many people. Every day I am getting amazing feedback from different people and it really makes me happy that I can make people smile and be positive through my music.

Who had the idea that you could participate in the Latvian national selection and who decided “Heartbeat”?

This idea was turning in my mind long time ago, but person that made this idea turn in action was song author Aminata Savodogo. She was the one who called me and said, come in, you have to do this! It is very good opportunity! And I am so thankful for that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjBNWUrwFl0

What is the message of "Heartbeat"?

The main motive in the song is about lost love and pain that it gives. It is like prayer to forget all the bad that happened and start everything from the beginning. Even maybe this prayer could not be heard and just resound in the silence, you can’t move on without saying it out loud.

Can you tell us something about the beginning of your career?

I am 20 years old singer/song writer from Latvia. I started my musical career on age 6. I’ve been singing at Riga Dome Choir School. In that place I’ve learned music theory, piano, performing arts, jazz theory, improvisation and ensemble (combo), which significantly affected the further life path.

Than I’ve been singing and playing on the streets of Riga when I was 16. Shortly after that I found my first band called “TaxFree”. There we all were in my age, starting something new. First songs, first concerts, first fails and first victories associate with that time. Few years later one popular band in Latvia called GACHO noticed me and I started to do shows with them too. I got known with Bigger stages, management, fan base etc.

Biggest shows we had was on main stage of Latvian festivals like SUMMERSOUND, HOLI and our own concert in PALLADIUM concert venue. But in this project I wasn’t in the main role, so I continue to work with my vocal and looking around for opportunities. And now I am presenting my first single at Supernova 2016 for Eurovision 2016 National selection.

Your song is composed by Aminata, who represented Latvia last year at the Eurovision Song Contest very successful with her song “Love Injected”. Can you tell us something more about this collaboration?

Working with Aminata has been very easy and fun for me although she is very demanding and hard working, she is also funny and sweet, and that is kind of close to my character so it is nothing but wonderful to work with her.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-usdXbeGHi8

What are you expecting in the national selection “Supernova 2016”, are you excited?

I am expecting a fair fight for audience heartbeats and chance to represent my country in ESC 2016. And of course I am excited when such a good price is on the table :D

How do you prepare yourself for the show?

I am doing my best to build a contact with people and hell of a rehearsals to fill up their hopes. Also my crew and I are constantly shooting material for social networks (photo shots, videos). We are very friendly with press and I am happy to receive a big amount of requests for an interview. Every single day I have something new to tell and to show to my audience.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL3Gxqk97tU

Are you a Eurovision fan?

I am watching it every single year, so I guess you can call me a fan :D

Which are your favorite Eurovision songs and what is your favorite from Latvian entries?

I think it’s hard to say, because I am always watching these shows as a doctor looks at patients. He don’t have favorite one as I don’t have favorite song  :D

What is your first Eurovision memory?

When I was very young I remember all family watching this show and that was the year when Latvia won. And everyone was jumping around our flat and cheering. It was very positive and happy moment. I hope that one day and hopefully very soon I could bring this joy and happiness back to them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEBSPOns9Oo

What are your plans for 2016 beside the Latvian national selection, are you working on a album?

Ahhhhhh so many huge plans!!! New songs, New videos, EP album and many concerts, lots of recording etc.

If people outside Latvia never heared about you before – what should they know about you?

They should know that everything is possible! My heartbeat is beating the same as everyone’s. I have performed in the shows to 10,000 audience and next week working my ass up selling computers in a store so I could buy new microphone. I have been playing  hours on the streets while my fingers became blue hopefully that someone will notice me. I am as simple as you. Every day getting up and working to make my dream come true! We can make everything as good as we want. We should fight together!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OTLryOTXkc

Why should the Latvian audience vote for your song to represent Latvia at Eurovision 2016?

I am not that kind of person who tells others what they should do or not. I can only say that I will do my best and I am working nights and days to fill up your hopes Latvia in this important competition.

Do you have a message for our readers and your fans?

Just sit back and enjoy the show that we are preparing so hard to show you. :D

Thank you so much for answer those questions. Good luck to you and your song in the Latvian national selection and maybe we see us in Stockholm! We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

This year, 43 participating broadcasters will be fielding entries in what has been coined the biggest entertainment spectacle in the world.

We had the opportunity to speak to some of the acts who are hoping to win their nations' ticket, and the 1st to grace us with an interview is Sigga Eyrun, who will be singing the song "Kreisi", which she co-wrote with Karl Olgeirsson in Songvakeppnin 2016.

Hello Sigga, how does it feel to be part of the Icelandic national selection “Söngvakeppnin 2016” with the song "Kreisi"?

I am very excited and having so much fun with the preparations.

Who had the idea that you could participate in the Icelandic national selection and who decided "Kreisi"?

My partner, Karl, wrote the song and we decided together that it would be a good idea to enter it into the competition. We were about to release it but decided that it would receive more notice if it was part of Eurovision. And it sure has.

What is the message of "Kreisi”?

The message of the song is to not lose touch with the real world when you get attached to something like a computer game or even social media. Don’t let social media and other modern temptations drive you crazy (kreisí).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsOK4uHwMUE

When have you started doing music?

I started out as an actor/singer. I went to drama school in England (Guildford School of Acting) where I studied Musical Theatre. I have mostly been doing voiceovers for cartoons and acting in Musicals. My solo career in music didn’t take off properly until 2014 when I first sang in Eurovision.

Yes I am very excited. I am expecting a lot of fun with all the wonderful contestants and the lovely talented people at RÚV. It will be a great party.

You already participated in “Söngvakeppnin 2014” with the song “Lífið kviknar á ný”. Do you think it’s an advantage that you already participated in the national selection?

Yes. Last time I had to spend a lot of energy on letting people know who I was and now I can let the act speak for itself. People know I can be trusted not to break down on stage.

Which are your favorite Eurovision songs and what is your favorite from Icelandic entries?

My favorites are Waterloo, Ein Bitchen Frieden, Gente di mare, J’aime la vie, Euphoria and Selma’s All out of Luck is my favorite from Iceland.
