Malta: ‘The Start’ of a New Journey for Gaia Cauchi

In 2013, Malta decided to re-ignite their participation within the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and despite early criticism with respect to the choice of the artist internally, it seems that every word has been retracted as Gaia Cauchi belted out her entry The Start, a co-write between Elton Zarb, Matthew Mercieca and Gillian Attard. Speaking on behalf of the Public Broadcasting Services, Anton Attard had stated that the participation is being covered by a private sponsor who had come forward a tad late to organise a national selection.

There is a strong possibility that Malta will host the 2014 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest should an understand with the European Broadcasting Union be reached in due course. The best result that the country had achieved was back in 2008 when Daniel Testa had managed a fourth place finish with his entry Junior Swing. Gaia Cauchi will be honouring the country in Kiev, Ukraine with a song which would be best described as a soulful, jazz ballad, one which reminds the audience of the likes of the big ballads seen at the senior edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. An exclusive interview with Gaia Cauchi will be published within the next couple of days, so we urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.
