Denmark: Basim Selected to Represent Host Nation

Basim has emerged as the winner of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014 and will be singing his entry Cliché Love Song for the home team. The money would have been on Bryan Rice to be representing Denmark this year but I must admit I am impressed with Basim’s song. Basim, a spritely young 21 year old has come a long way since his Danish X Factor days.

Upon hearing that he would be entering the competition, I was underwhelmed and I didn’t really think he would register on the Eurovision radar. I am extremely impressed with this one though and I am pleased to say that I got it wrong with this one. A unique offering, with a few “skiddly-pop” noises, which normally irritate the life out of me. As Basim sang his reprise, I was pleasantly surprised. This is certainly an entry that Denmark can be proud of. I cannot go as far as to say that this is a winner, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing it in Copenhagen.
