Azerbaijan won the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Running Scared’ performed by the duo Ell & Nikki who were chosen via a television show, and the song was then chosen through an internal selection and the juries picked ‘Running Scared’ who coincidentally came from the same writers who composed last year’s Azeri entry. This was Azerbaijan's fourth ever participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Their debut was back in 2008 where they finished in eighth place with ‘Day After Day’, a year later they managed to go further up the scoreboard placing third with ‘Always’ whilst last year…
Position number thirteen within the running order of the second semi-final of this years’ Eurovision Song Contest is actually one which nears the end of the field with only six countries to go. The position has been entrusted to the nation of Slovenia who will be vying to reach the final of the event for the very first time since 2007 when Alenka Gotar and her entry ‘Czet Z Juga’ managed to reach a mid-table placing in the event final having finished in seventh place within the semi-final stage. This year, the EMA was organised on a smaller scale but…
Moving onto the fourteenth position within the second semi-final, we head onto a nation which has built up close ties with countries such as Greece for example. The nation I am referring to is none other than Romania actually who will be represented by a group who go by the name Hotel FM. They won the right to represent the nation through a national final which took place on New Years’ Eve in which our very own Chiara was also a guest and judge. The end of the show was quite interesting as well seeing all of the guests singing…
The fifteenth position within the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest has been awarded to the nation of Estonia, a baltic nation who is also yet to win the event. Their national final entitled Eesti Laul was the main talk of the country when it came about and by far, one of the best national selections of the year featuring what were some of the most contemporary songs presented this year. In the end, there was only one winner and that was none other than a sweet young lady who goes by the name of Getter Jaani, we had…
The sixteenth entry in this years’ second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany is actually coming from the nation of Belarus. One should note that this nation despite having a lot of neighbours from the ex-Yugoslavian countries, the nation has not managed to reach the placings that they have wanted that it for sure. This year, an internal selection was the choice of Belarus actually and therefore the choice was made by the broadcaster. The final song which was chosen for the singer Anastasia Vinnikova is entitled ‘I Love Belarus’ and was composed by Eugene…
The seventeenth entry in this years’ second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany is actually coming from the nation of Latvia. Despite taking part in the event for a relatively short period of time, that of eleven years, the nation has already managed to encompass, success and failure managing to win and lose at the same time. This year, the national selection entitled Eirodziesma was quite a spectactle but many peoples’ favourite did not win. Still in the end the group Musiqq will be performing a song which has been growing in popularity, bearing the…
The eighteen entry and penultimate song in the second semi-final will be coming from the nation of Denmark, one which has been taking part in the event for quite some time. This year as the broadcaster did last year, organised only one show for the final and that was held in February. In the end, the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix managed to keep up to the usual high standards of it all and the people seemed to enjoy it quite a lot actually. In the end of the evening, it was between a young little known of girl and a…
The entry that will be ending the semi-final on Thursday night will be Ireland, a very respectful spot for the nation which holds the record of victories in the event having managed to win it a total of seven times. This year, the Late Late Show hosted Eurosong yet again but the level of entries was somewhat very good in comparison to recent years with great acts brought forward to present songs written either by mentors or well known people. In the end though as expected, one act surpassed expectations and won only by a two point margin, they were…
