Malta: Fresh Modern Sound for Stefan Galea

"Escape", composed and produced by Carlo Gerada, lyrics by Matthew Mercieca (Muxu), and mastered by Elton Zarb at Freetime Studios, with vocals provided by Stefan Galea, is currently receiving airplay on all major radio stations, whilst supported by a music video, one shot and directed by Angie Laus, Duane Laus, and Marlon Polidano on behalf of WE Media.

The music video was shot entirely at So City Club, Paceville courtesy of Graham Testa. The location fits perfectly with the theme and genre of the song, thus making it a dance floor filler in order to appeal to various teenagers, whilst highlighting a new direction in Stefan Galea's career. The setup of the music video is very diverse, thus making it unique and special. It portrays different characters in the club scene, with a spectacular team of break-dancers, choreographed by Peter Ray Portelli (Waterfall Dance Company).

Stefan is currently busy performing live acoustic gigs with his guitarist Kurt Aquilina (Maltese representative at the Eurovision Young Musicians 2014) on various TV shows. At present he is being vocally coached by Gillian Attard from La Voix Academy and Alison Ellul where he is also, currently busy preparing for his trinity guildhall voice examinations. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about the local music scene.

Elton Zarb, Alison Ellul and Aidan O’Connor co-wrote a track entitled It’s All About a Boy and submit it to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest on two (2) occasions, failing to get through to the final phase, twice, but nevertheless, the track has found solace in Lithuania where it was announced to having made it through to the final three (3) following an extremely tough competition, which lasted for weeks and is somewhat nearing the end.

Elton Zarb's songwriting and production is clearly making strides, having been co-responsible for the Maltese entry at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013, which went onto win the competition as well as the arrangements of most of the guests in this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. At this stage of the competition, only two (2) weeks remain, with the last three (3) songs set to be performed by the three (3) finalists; with the song picking up the most votes, being selected as the representative entry. The other two (2) remaining entries are entitled Attention written by Viktoras Vaupšas and Vilija Matačiūnaitė and Take a Look At Me Now co-written by Aidian O'Connor, Christian Schneider and Sara Biglert. The editorial team at escflashmalta.com would like to wish the songwriters of It's All About A Boy the very best of luck in the competition.

Malta: Ninth Programme of Indifest This Evening

Media.Link Communications in collaboration with escflashmalta.com is proud to present the ninth week of the programme Indifest hosted by Mark Azzopardi and Christine Haber through NET Television on Thursday evening as from 20:30 CET onwards. In support of this years' edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza, the weekly programme seeks to promote the artists competing in one of three competitions which promote the local language. Whether newcomers or somewhat established, their place is still amongst the general elite. The public has the opportunity to select which three entries they would like to qualify from the 'teenage talent' portion of the competition as well selecting their top favourite within the 'established category' which is offered as a separate award in order to make sure that talent is well appreciated.

The Established Category of this years' edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza is a progression towards the future noting a mixture of young and veteran artists who look towards impressing the judges on the night of the competition. In this evenings' programme, first up is a duet featuring Josef and Johanna who will be singing the track Inwegħdek composed by Minik to the lyrics of Stephen Baldacchino. Also on the programme from the same category is Neville Refalo who returns as a soloist with the song Hemm Miegħek Jien composed by Minik to the lyrics of Rita Pace.

The Teenage Category of this years' edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza officially came to a close two weeks ago but the committee will be welcoming back all of the competing artists for a special showcase next week, where they will be performing in front of a panel of judges who determine 60% of the final vote. There will also be a musical guest during this evenings' showcase, that being none other than Alison Ellul whose last participation in a competition came at the 2011 Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song Numb. In the meantime, joining Alison will be her sisters' dance troupe, Annalise Dance Studio as resident guests of the programme. Remember Indifest returns to NET Television, this evening at 20:30 CET. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for the latest news.
