OGAE Malta, the local representative committee within the international fan club of the Eurovision Song Contest has decided to open the selection for the annual OGAE Video Contest to the general public in a bid to make sure that the chosen entry is one which receives the full backing from everyone, something that has not always been the case. Last year, it was Italy who were winners of the competition with the track E' L'Amore Che Conta performed by Giorgia. Malta has never triumphed within the competition but has managed a sixth place finish on two occasions, first time round in 2005 with video for the song I'm In Love Again by Ira Losco and second time round in 2006 with the video for the track Love On The Radio sung by Fabrizio Faniello.

On the 15th August 2014, the voting officially commences with the public having the opportunity to select their favourite music video from a selection of ten (10) songs which OGAE Malta have internally selected amongst their members. As has already been noted in a previous article, it was impossible to shortlist the music video for the track Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat with vocals provided by Gianluca because entries from the Eurovision Song Contest are prohibited for taking part. Despite this particular inconvience, the list of music videos shortlisted feature artists from the whole spectrum of the local music scene including former Eurovision Song Contest representative; Ira Losco as well as national final participants; Kelly Schembri and Davinia Pace.

They will all be coming together on stage once more during Echoes, a live street concert in aid of Puttinu Cares on Friday 16th August from 21:00 CET onwards. It is important to denote that the list above is only part of the line-up with other special performances including Kristina Casolani who performed during this years' Isle of MTV and Cryptic Street, winners of the Best New Act at the Bay Music Awards 2012.

On Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D, both Claudia and Davinia have made the cut with their most recent releases; When It's Time co-written with Errol and You Are My Home composed by Elton Zarb with lyrics by Matt Mercieca. A couple of weeks ago, On the Dancefloor, written by Matt Mercieca was unveiled as the second single by Jan Cortez following the smashing success he had with the track My World which was selected as the Best Song of the Year at the Bay Music Awards. As expected, the brand new track has a thumping beat in retrospect of the hot summer months that have somewhat engulfed the country. It's the type of song that one would hear by the pool or the beach during an extremely wild party and it can also be yours for a mere €0.99 through digital portal, iTunes. In order to support the release of the song, the male vocalist published an official music video just a couple of days back which you may also view at the bottom of this article.

Through his latest track, Jan Cortez garnered airplay on 89.7 Bay as well as all the major radio stations in the country but his success has been denoted on iTunes where he did enter the local chart for around a week. The songwriter of this track, Matt Mercieca was also responsible for the second runner-up entry at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, Betrayed which was performed by Davinia to the music of Elton Zarb. In the meantime, the music video for On The Dancefloor is quite technical with special effects throughout the four minute track. Special thanks for the music video goes to  Jon Camilleri and Marlon Polidano who were responsible for filming and editing respectively. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for the latest news as it becomes available.

OGAE Malta, the local representative committee within the international fan club of the Eurovision Song Contest has just unveiled a brand new selection format for the annual OGAE Video Contest which was last year won by Italy and the video of the song E' L'Amore Che Conta performed by Giorgia. Since it's inception back in 2003, Malta has been present and has also peaked at sixth place on two occasions, the first time in 2005 with the video for the song I'm In Love Again by Ira Losco and second time round in 2006 with the video for the track Love On The Radio sung by Fabrizio Faniello.

The voting will officially commence on the 15th August 2013 but nevertheless, you could still get acquainted with the shortlist of entries as selected by the organising body. Tomorrow, co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat with vocals provided by Gianluca could not be included within the list due to the regulation that the songs cannot be from that years' edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Nevertheless, artists whose videos have been selected include former representative; Ira Losco as well as former national final participants; Davinia and Kelly Schembri.

Following her second runner-up finish at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, Davinia has been busy in the studio working on some fresh songs. You're My Home, composed by Elton Zarb and penned in conjuction with Matt Mercieca is the latest fruit born by the team which brought about Betrayed during the pre-selection process which saw to the selection of Gianluca and his entry Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat. escflashmalta.com had the opportunity to exclusively publish the video in recent weeks and it seems that the audience are falling in love with the song as it steadily enters the local charts.

Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D is the flagship chart show in Malta which promotes the ten most played entries on 89.7 Bay during the previous week. Davinia had entered the charts on several occasions before and has even reached the top with more than one song noting the success of both Feel Good Song, a duet with Muxu as well as Sail Away which is a solo track in the vein of what people have come to expect from the female vocalist. She also had the opportunity to perform at the Bay Music Awards back in 2011.

In a recent interview with Corazon on TVPM, which was airing on Television Malta as part of the autumn/winter schedule, Davinia confirmed intentions to return to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest if given the opportunity after the submission process. You're My Home entered Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D last week at number #10 as a new entry but has risen to number #9 this week, hoping that more success will be achieved in due course. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news as soon as it becomes available.

Davinia, second runner-up at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the track Betrayed composed by Elton Zarb and penned by Matt Mercieca was a special guest on the television programme; TVPM hosted by Corazon and Peter Carbonaro yesterday afternoon. Apart from performing three cover versions with pianist Paul Giordimaina, Davinia also gave a short bi-lingual interview to Corazon, the hostess of the programme. In this interview, she spoke about the positive effects of her third place result at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. She added that she would love to participate once more and therefore, escflashmalta.com is proud to reveal that Davinia might very well be the first finalist in next years' edition.

Davinia is currently promoting her latest track entitled You Are My Home which is written by the same aforementioned songwriting duo. The official video accompanying the track was exclusively revealed on escflashmalta.com earlier this week. The track is currently being played on all of the local radio stations whilst also getting broadcasted abroad in countries such as The Netherlands amongst others. It is yet unknown what the selection format will entail noting that Anton Attard, Head of Delegation possibly wanted to re-invent the way the song and artist are chosen. Nevertheless, participation was confirmed just days after the eighth place result achieved in Malmo, Sweden. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news about the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

You're My Home, composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt Mercieca (Muxu) is the latest single to be released by vocalist Davinia, who in turn achieved considerable repute following her second runner-up finish at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Betrayed was somewhat dark and edgy and whilst the sultry vocals are ever so existent in this track as well, the message and the vibe are completely different. Receiving airplay on 89.7 Bay along with other local radio stations, one hopes that this track will achieve as much success as her previous songs including Sail Away and Feel Good Song, the latter being a duet with Muxu.

In recent months, escflashmalta.com has been proud to exclusively unveil a series of music videos including those of Brooke, Funk Initiative, Muxu, Jean Claude Vancell and Lyndsay. Today, we are proud to be the first to showcase the preview video accompanying You're My Home composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt Mercieca with vocals provided by Davinia and backing vocals by Rachael Tedesco Triccas. Davinia is currently extremely busy working in the studio on a number of tracks for more released in the next couple of months whilst still being somewhat coy about possibly re-entering the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in 2014. In the meantime, should you wish to listen to her perform, make sure to visit the Hush Lounge Cafe in Portomaso on the 24th July at 21:30 CET for an intimate performance. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news as soon as it becomes available.

Betrayed, composed by Elton Zarb and penned by Matt Mercieca with vocals provided by Davinia was the second runner-up entry at this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Despite being a relative newcomer to the competition, Davinia has been working on a number of tracks in recent years including a duet entitled Feel Good Song with her singer/songwriter Muxu and also a solo track entitled Sail Away.

The long standing collaboration between the trio will continue as the upcoming artist plans the release of a brand new single entitled You're My Home which escflashmalta.com had the pleasure of listening to in the past couple of days. The percussion of the song is softened by a beautiful piano melody as everything is stripped down to let the vocals of Davinia shine through the track. This is an extremely different song to the one offered within the Malta Eurovision Song Contest showing how versatile the artist is.

Whilst the music literally screams beauty, the lyrics are event more stunning, echoing 'I promise you full honestly' and 'I won't go'. Those who tend to fall in love with lyrics for their sentimental value will definitely be swept away once more. We are pleased to announce that You're My Home composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt Mercieca will also get an official video which escflashmalta.com will be unveiling exclusively in the next couple of weeks, so make sure to stay tuned.

Tomorrow, co-written by Dean Muscat and Boris Cezek with vocals by Gianluca will be representing Malta in the upcoming edition of the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Sweden. As has become customary in recent years, the editorial team of escflashmalta.com will be collaborating with Juergen Boernig and his team at Radio International to keep you posted on the latest happenings directly from the venue throughout the two weeks. In the meantime, from home base in Malta, we are pleased to announce that for the third year running, a number of guests have been enlisted to aid in covering the semi-finals and the actual final respectively. It is a case of letting the people know what individuals from the music industry think of the international showcase. The line-up this year is quite strong and we are pleased to welcome all of them on board as guest commentators.

This years' Eurovision Song Contest officially kicks off with the first semi-final on the 14th May 2013 and will ultimately feature seventeen (17) entries with another three (3) countries having the right to cast their vote despite already having a place in the final. This is the semi-final in which Malta will not be competing and therefore, we thought it best to have two local stars in the form of Claudia Faniello and Errol Sammut whom as many people know have become a powerhouse couple in recent months and are working together on new material. Claudia Faniello is a two time first runner-up at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest and earlier this year competed with the song When It's Time co-written with Errol Sammut. The male singer/songwriter is mostly known as being the lead vocals of the popular band, Airport Impressions who are also working on a brand new album at the moment. Emil Calleja Bayliss, Head of Press for escflashmalta.com has been enlisted to carry out this report alongside two of the nations' leading vocalists.

Following the first semi-final is the second semi-final taking place on the 16th May 2013 which will feature a total of sixteen (16) entries with once more another three (3) countries having the right to cast their vote despite already having a place in the final. This is actually the semi-final in which Malta will be competing in and with nerves running high on qualification, we thought to mix it up a bit within this evening. From a local front, we are pleased to have with us, Davinia who was the second runner-up at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the track Betrayed composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of Matt (Muxu) Mercieca whilst from a foreign front we will have, Simon Casey who definitely does not need any introduction having amassed Gold and Platinum discs in Ireland for his first two albums apart from an Irish number #1 single entitled A Better Plan which was also runner-up to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. Antoine Farrugia, one of our brightest new talents on the escflashmalta.com editorial team will be carrying out his duty.

The final of the Eurovision Song Contest is always an interesting spectacle because the qualifiers would have upped their game from the semi-final stage whilst the big five perform along with the previous years' winner which in this case will be Sweden with Robin Stjernberg at the track You. We have decided to go almost completely female for the final noting that all of the three guest commentators, two being Maltese and the other being Irish are female. As a matter of fact, Brooke and Christabelle who are two of the leading artists in the local music scene will be analysing the performances with a critical eye following the success of Fairytale and Say respectively. Joining them is Lauren White, a singer/songwriter who just signed a publishing deal with Universal Music and working on some material material. She was co-writer of the song Fire in this years' Late Late Show Eurosong special alongside Niall Mooney and Willie Weeks. Marc Calleja Bayliss, Editor-In-Chief of escflashmalta.com will co-ordinate proceedings from the editorial board.

The interviews continues thoug because, a newcomer by the name of Davinia Pace finished in third place during the Malta Eurovision Song Contest iwth her song Betrayed composed by Elton Zarb and penned by Matthew Mercieca (Muxu). She has taken in this experience as a brilliant kick start to bigger and better things and considering that she has released material such as Feel Good Song and Sail Away in recent months, one would surely expect more in the near future. The final interview that will be aired this evening is with Liene Candy who is hoping to represent Latvia in 2013 with the song Higher and Higher. She has already been a backing vocalist for the nation before, in 2008 with Wolves of the Sea but would like to come out as the lead vocalist.

Radio International is always keen to present songs during the show apart from the weekly features and therefore, collaborating the two ideas together will see the emergence of Eurovision UnverCover whereas tracks performed at the Eurovision Song Contest will be covered by other singers. All of the latest news is also covered during the weekly broadcast noting resources from escflashmalta.com and escXtra where Luke Fisher, the Editor makes a weekly round-up. The same applies with Dermot Manning who continues national finals and this week, he turns to Finland, Iceland and Norway.
