Xi Darba Min Jaf? written by Dominic Galea and Joe Friggieri with vocals provided by Gillian Attard was the first runner-up in the 2002 edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu. It was the beginning of an astonishing career for the artist, who has turned out to be the most prolific vocal trainer in Malta, known for establishing talents such as those of Gaia Cauchi, Federica Falzon, Veronica Rotin and Shauna Vassallo amongst others as director and founder of La Voix Academy.

escflashmalta.com is in an exclusive position to reveal that La Voix Academy which also features a number of tutors in the form of musicians; Chris Mallia, Wayne Camilleri, Sylvana Camilleri and Matt Mercieca, will hold the rights to the Maltese participation in the talent show Io Canto broadcast on Canale 5 with auditions taking place on the 10th August 2014. The announcement comes off the heels of yet another astonishing result for the academy and Federica Falzon who has no less than four songs in the final of Ti Lascio Una Canzone which airs on RAI Uno. CAP-Sounds, a record label based in Germany and distributed by Universal Music, known for publishing most of the entries that Malta has sent to the Eurovision Song Contest has prepared a special surprise for all fans of the international competition. escflashmalta.com is proud to exclusively reveal that the company has been busy speaking with artists, songwriters and label executives about getting the rights to each of the songs that represented Malta in the past, from the first ever entry in 1971 to the most recent one in 2013.

Unfortunately, despite all their efforts, some songs are missing either due to unclear legal issues or personal reasons but that should not marr the cloud of the compilation album, the second ever to be put on disc and digital platforms such as iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. It is a must have collection for all fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, and of course, of Malta’s participation in the international competition. This compilation includes none other than; Marija l-Maltija (1971), L-Imħabba (1972), Could It Be (1991), Little Child (1992), This Time (1993), Keep Me In Mind (1995), In a Woman’s Heart (1996), Let Me Fly (1997), The One That I Love (1998), Believe ‘n Peace (1999), Desire (2000), Another Summer Night (2001), 7th Wonder (2002), On Again ... Off Again (2004), I Do (2006), Vertigo (2007), Vodka (2009), What If We (2009), My Dream (2010), One Life (2011) and This Is The Night (2012).

A further suprise by CAP-Sounds are the inclusion of four (4) bonus tracks, all from this years’ edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, with Safe (Miriam Christine), Just No Place Like Home (Fabrizio Faniello), One Last Ride (Daniel Testa) and Because I Have You (Amber) all making the final cut. escflashmalta.com would like to thank Manfred Holz, owner of CAP-Sounds for taking up such an initiative, one which we had been personally hoping to happen for a very long time. Stay tuned for more of the latest news.

Andreana, one of the most experienced vocalists to have taken part in this years’ edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with eight (8) participations in total; Listen (1998), Theresa (2002), Angels (2003), Let’s Make a Change (2005), So Good (2006), Fired Up (2010) and Now and Forever (2014) has been in touch with escflashmalta.com in recent days over the release of her first music video; one which is supporting Now and Forever, albeit in a completely different genre.

In the 2014 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, Now and Forever composed by Vinny Vella Jr to the lyrics of Karl Spiteri was a sultry tune with a contemporary jazz touch, as if being in a french cafe watching the day come to an end. The version in the video is ever so slightly different in what the songwriters and the performer are terming as a slight switch towards pop, something which the audience has already embraced. The music video set in Radisson Blu Resort St. Julians as well as several areas of natural interest, including Valletta has been worked upon by Take 2 Entertainment, whose work in cinematography has been duly appreciated along the years. Stay tuned for escflashmalta.com for more news in the coming weeks.

As Editor-In-Chief of escflashmalta.com, I would like all of our readers an extremely Happy New Year and sincerely hope that it would prove more satisfactory than the one preceding it. In terms of music, it is going to be an extremely difficult year to follow up with Malta achieving success both at the senior and the junior level of the Eurovision Song Contest with Gianluca and his entry Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat finishing in eighth place, the best result since 2005 and Gaia Cauchi and her song The Start co-written with Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard finishing on top of the leader board giving the nation their first ever success in an event organised by the European Broadcasting Union.

In recent days, we have been in touch with Gillian Attard, in hope of getting extremely special greetings for the brand new year, and indeed, being so courteous and kind, she gave us the go ahead and made sure that a couple of videos are recorded as the new year dawns on both Malta and the rest of the world. All the students who have been selected are coached by Gillian Attard, otherwise known as Miss G at the illustrious La Voix Academy whose track record with children in competitions is beyond amazing. It is no secret that the institution is run with a professional attitude and that several teachers should follow such an astonishing example as is being set forth by Gillian. Kicking off the special video messages is Gaia Cauchi.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK71lO3MYPo

Gaia Cauchi, winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013, and also the illustrious Sanremo Junior a couple of months back decided to sing a special rendition of Happy New Year originally by Abba, and then covered by the likes of Niamh Kavanagh, Chiara, Paula and Ovi during the Romanian national selection. The second video is that of Shauna Vassallo, an upcoming artist who had the opportunity to perform on a regular basis on the programm; Io Canto which airs on Canale 5. This was the same show which had given us the likes of Danica Muscat, a two time qualifier of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest.

The final video is that of the wonderful Veronica Rotin, another starlet of the La Voix Academy who had been given the opportunity to perform on Io Canto, and also managed to get through to the final stage of the competition, something which no other Maltese had ever done. It is not easy achieving success on an international level, but with sheer class and talent, anything is possible. Once more, on behalf of the editorial board, and also EXOR Group, proud sponsors of escflashmalta.com, we would like to wish you a very Happy New Year filled with everything your heart desires.
