"The Start", co-written by Gillian Attard, Elton Zarb, Matthew Mercieca and Gaia Cauchi, with the latter also being the vocalist, gave Malta a renewed hope of success in international music competitions. As a result of this success, the Public Broadcasting Services sent in a formal bid to host the 2014 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Eventually, the paperwork was signed and Malta became host nation, a role which is being taken extremely seriously. The Public Broadcasting Services is recruiting a series of volunteers in various areas of the production team in order to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Amongst the available roles, one would find; Delegate Hosts, Technical Persons proficient in basic networking, Guest Relations - Front Office Services, Multi language speaking hosts, Communication and Public Relations Assistants and Photo & Video editing personnel.

It is worth keeping in mind that students with foreign language skills, as well as a background of Malta, in terms of history and geography will be considered assets. The registration could be done through the official website of the Public Broadcasting Services by no later than Sunday 20th July 2014. Another note is that volunteers need to be 18 years and over in order to be eligible, whilst making themselves available on a full time basis between the 8th and 16th November 2014. In just a couple of months, Malta will be hosting this year's edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest following Gaia Cauchi's triumph with "The Start", a song which she co-wrote with Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard. As soon as victory was assured, the Public Broadcasting Services entered into talks with the European Broadcasting Union to hold the event in the Mediterranean Island, with the general public buzzing over the stupendous showing.

It seems that participating countries for the show are on the increase and following the supposed debut of Iceland, it seems that Italy will also be putting in their initial showing, according to eurofestivalnews.com, the most accurate Italian news source. This comes to fruition following a recent general assembly organised by the European Broadcasting Union in Naples. Rumour has it, that Italy will be following in Malta and San Marino's footsteps in sending an artist from the television programme "Ti Lascio Una Canzone" following the choices of Michele Perniola for San Marino in 2013 and Federica Falzon for Malta in 2014.

Both managed to triumph in the show. In Malta, the public is buzzing about the possibility of Federica competing against Vincenzo Carni who seems to be first on the list of possible entrants. It is worth noting that Federica and Vincenzo won this year's edition of "Ti Lascio Una Canzone" as a duet. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about the 2014 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Until 2013, Daniel Testa was the most successful artist to represent Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with "Junior Swing", a song he wrote himself, finishing in 4th place. That all changed when Gaia Cauchi swept to victory in an impressive performance of "The Start", co-written with Gillian Attard, Elton Zarb and Matthew Mercieca.

Earlier this year, Daniel Testa emerged as a dark horse during the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, and came the closest to winning the ticket, as a vocalist who had been to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, including Marilena Gauci and Sophie DeBattista who have made the finals but yet to trouble the top three. "One Last Ride", a co-write between Stephen Rudden and Lawrence Peter Bridge, finished in third place, after achieving the second most amount of points with the public, just behind "Hypnotica" composed by Philip Vella to the lyrics of Gerard James Borg by Jessika.

In an interview with junioreurovision.tv, Daniel Testa confirmed that he will be putting his name forward for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in the future, including next year. Nevertheless, he hopes that 'there would not be too many' entries before he would finally triumph.
