JESC '13: Gaia Cauchi Succeeds in European Win

The Start, co-written by Gillian Attard, Elton Zarb and Matt Mercieca with vocals provided by Gaia Cauci has just been announced as the winner of this years' edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held in Kiev, Ukraine. The Public Broadcasting Services decided to return to the prestigious event following a two year absence and it seems to have found the right song and singer. Many people had noted Malta to be a favourite of the event prior to the evening and it was only the public and the jury who had the final say on where the votes were set to go.

All of the competing countries voted for Malta, with the least amount of points given being six (6) from Georgia but nevertheless, garnering the initial twelve (12) pointer was definitely a sign of good faith especially considering that it was a Kids' Jury. This is the nations' first victory in any event organised by the European Broadcasting Union and although it does not entail that the Public Broadcasting Services has to host next years' event, we have it on multiple sources that there is a lot of interest, one that will surely be accentuated following this evenings' success. Gaia Cauchi, a winner of Sanremo Junior and also participant in RAI Uno's Ti Lascio Una Canzone has always been a predominant figure in the music industry but it seems that her career will go from strength to strength following this evenings' victory. It is worth noting that in second place was Ukraine and in third place was Belarus. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.

Rapturous applause, widespread acclaim and a performance compared to the ones given at the Academy Awards was given earlier this afternoon by Gaia Cauchi who will be representing Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with The Start, co-written alongside Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard. Malta's return to the event following abseentism of two years was very much felt in the music industry but the Pubic Broadcasting Services sought to right a wrong and return before it was too late.

The event, slated to commence at 19:00 CET, airing on TVM2, will be taking place in the capital city of Ukraine, that being Kiev features a total of twelve (12) countries with Malta singing in the penultimate position between The Netherlands and Russia respectively. Apart from the vocalist, and the songwriters who are all part of the delegation, the Public Broadcasting Services are represented by Daniel d'Anastasi, Anna Dalli, Anton Attard and Maxine Pace who are the Head of Press, Assistant Head of Delegation, Head of Delegation and Spokesperson respectively. You could watch her performance from the Dress Rehearsal earlier this afternoon just below and also follow escflashmalta.com's running blog with guest commentary by Daniel Testa, Sophie DeBattista and Trevor Fenech.

Xarabank, the most popular television show in Malta, produced by WE Media and hosted by Peppi Azzopardi has been given the opportunity to reveal the names of the twenty (20) semi-finalists who will be competing in next years’ edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. This type of announcement also took place with respect to the national selections in the past two (2) years and is known to keep the general public on edge. This weekend in particular could be quite intriguing especially due to the fact that Malta is returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Gaia Cauchi and her entry The Start co-written with Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard.

Television Malta, the flagship station to support events related to the European Broadcasting Union will definitely be giving the twenty semi-finalists everything that is required in the sense of exposure. Since the Public Broadcasting Services took over the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, the results have seemingly improved as witnessed earlier this year when Gianluca achieved eighth place with the track Tomorrow co-written by Dean Muscat and Boris Cezek.

In the meantime, submissions for next years' selection procedure sky-rocketed to a 210, out of which 70 had been shortlisted into the second phase. The list included several newcomers, along with established artists, some of which have also been to the Eurovision Song Contest in the past. Make sure to switch on Television Malta (TVM) this evening at around 20:45 CET through the official website and watch the programme Xarabank. Also, log into escflashmalta.com for rolling live updates as they are aired throughout the programme.

It was one of the most surprising announcements, when the Public Broadcasting Services made use of their evening news bulletin to reveal that Malta was set to return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Gaia Cauchi was internally selected following her success at the Malta Music Awards which saw her being awarded the International Achievement Award following her stint on the RAI Uno programme, Ti Lascio Una Canzone hosted by the renowned Antonella Clerici.

On Saturday, Gaia Cauchi will be representing Malta at one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world as she takes to the stage of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Kiev, Ukraine. The event, broadcaster in around fifteen (15) countries features twelve (12) participants at the moment although more are expected this time next year as interest is currently being shown by the likes of Hungary and Germany, both of which are regulars at the senior edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Start is co-written by Gaia Cauchi alongside Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard. Her second rehearsal was powerful, and beyond magical, so much that there has a lot of positive feedback from the international press and even from other delegations. On Saturday, the show kicks off at 19:00 CET on TVM 2 with commentary led by Daniel Chircop and Corazon Mizzi. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news and make sure to follow the rolling live report featuring Trevor Fenech, Sophie DeBattista and Daniel Testa.

Gaia Cauchi, the young female vocalist internally selected by the Public Broadcasting Services following her astonishing accolade at this years' edition of the Malta Music Awards is hoping to set the record for a week of firsts noting that she managed a sublime first rehearsal at the Sports Palace in Kiev, Ukraine. The international media have already dubbed her as the young girl with the big voice, comparing her to the likes of Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin. Malta has returned to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest following an absence of two (2) years and it seems that the public are content with such a decision.

At the initial rehearsal, meant to be for the setup of the lighting and the camera work, it seems that Malta has opted for a dark stage, one which envokes the emotions of the song. The lighting is predominantly purple and also features stars and buildings in certain areas. The camera work is also looking perfect. Despite taking to the stage by herself, Gaia fills it up with personality and a huge voice. I dare say that The Start is the best song that Malta has ever sent to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and all credit goes to Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca, Gaia Cauchi and Gillian Attard for making it possible. On Saturday, kicking off at 19:00 CET and airing on TVM 2 where Malta is concerned, Gaia Cauchi will be performing in slot number #11, the penultimate position. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.

On the 30th November 2013, the European Broadcasting Union will be hosting the tenth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is being staged in Kiev, Ukraine. As part of the rebranding of the event, a certain co-relation is being created between the senior and the junior events of the Eurovision Song Contest, so much so that two former winners of the senior event; Ruslana and Emmelie de Forest have both been invited to perform as special guests during the course of the evening.

It is also worth noting that the one of the hosts of the evening is Zlata Ognevich, the female artist who represented Ukraine at this years’ edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Gravity, finishing in second place. This is a similar system to the one used by NTU, the national broadcaster of Ukraine when they hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest a couple of years back by getting Ani Lorak to co-host. Malta is returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Gaia Cauchi and her entry The Start which she co-wrote with Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard  of La Voix Academy. It is always important to denote that the Mediterranean Country had been absent from the event for the past two (2) years. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for the latest news.

On the 30th November, Malta will be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with a song entitled The Start, co-written by Matt Mercieca, Gillian Attard, Elton Zarb and Gaia Cauchi, the latter of which will also be the vocalist. The return of the Mediterranean country to the international event has been met with widespread approval and despite the internal selection of both the artist and the song, it seems that the right decision was taken up considering that the polls are ranking Malta in one of the top three positions.

At this weekends' International Festival of Maltese Song, Gaia Cauchi took to the main stage as a special guest to perform her Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry, LIVE for the very first time and one would say that it was an overwhelming success with fan-sites and critics across the continent taking to social media in order to congratulate the young starlet. escflashmalta.com had the pleasure of being in the audience to confirm the stunning vocal capabilities of the performer.

At this point in time, Malta currently leads two main fan-site polls, one being that of oikotimes.com which has had well over 12,000 unique votes and the other one being of eurovoix.com which bases a lot of news items on the international event. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news about the 2013 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which will be covered by a series of special guests including Sophie DeBattista.

The young female vocalist will be taking to the stage as one of the special guests during the star studded evening which will feature performances from twenty-six (26) artists, all of which will be competing either in the local or the foreign category, as set forth by the organising committee.

The Start co-written by Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard has received extremely positive comments since unveiled to the general public on television programme; Xarabank produced by WE MEDIA. It has to be noted that Malta is one of the favourites for this years' edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, a tad surprising considering our two year absence from the event. The International Festival of Maltese Song is returning to the local music scene following an absence of eleven (11) years and is being led by a seven member strong committee and three consultants under the auspices of the Parliamentary Secretary for Culture and Local Councils, Hon. In recent years, La Voix Academy headed by Gillian Attard has been growing in reputation with success all over the world, most notably in neighbouring Italy, a nation which is known to appreciate upcoming talent and which has a music scene which directly affects Malta. The renowned body of vocalists which now reaches around 140 students has been given the exclusivity for the second consecutive year with regards to the Canale 5 programme; Io Canto, hosted by Gerry Scotti.

It is worth pointing out that this year, for the very first time ever, there were two (2) artists from Malta on the showcase; Shauna Vassallo and Veronica Rotin. Whilst both have given show stopping performances, the jury have decided to put the latter through to the final stages of the competition denoting that all the standing ovations she was given throughout the series actually meant a lot. During the time on the programme, she has performed a vast selection of songs including; Proud Mary, and the Dreamgirls hit track, And I am Telling You.

La Voix Academy is also busy with preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the moment as the internally selected artist; Gaia Cauchi is also part of this prestigious project which Gillian Attard, known to her children as Miss G initiated not too long ago. She will be performing a song entitled The Start co-written by Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard on the 30th November in Kiev, Ukraine.
