The Travellers, a new, young and energetic band, will be releasing their debut single, "Sempliċità" on the 12th of this month, followed by another single and the launch of their first 5 track Extended Play (EP) later on in 2016.

The band got together in 2013, with one aim in mind, that of trying to create something different in the already wide diversified local music scene.

Clayton (Bassist), Joseph (Trumpet), Chris (Main Vocals) and Andrew (Guitarist), have been in the music scene from a very young age and their love for Music grew fonder as they grew older. On the other hand, Sylvano (saxophone) and Michael (drummer) joined the rest of the band later on in 2013. This marked the inception of The Travellers.

All the members of The Travellers hail from Gozo and are very frequent commuters, crossing the channel to and from Malta regularly, hence the name of the band seemed the most appropriate and was an obvious choice.

In the past year, the band has been working on a mix of contemporary music incorporating brass and Maltese lyrics. This had originally started more of a curiosity and the band started experimenting with how their melodious tunes would sound when combined with the Maltese language on contemporary rhythms.  The aim behind this was to change the concept of Maltese diction in music on the islands.

This does not mean that the band is restricting their music to Maltese, but are leaving all their options open and are excited to see what the future holds. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest about the local music scene.

Ira Losco has just released 'Haunted by Love' as the first single off her much anticipated album, due to be released in 2016. The album will be her fifth studio release and 10th music publication to date.

The 'drum and bass' track, which was produced by Howard Keith at Jagged House Studios, is very fitting to the pop sound currently dominating the charts and airwaves. Ira Losco has been working in the studio since last August and is set to return with a very fresh sound following her previous album "The Fire”.  Awarded best album at the Malta Music Awards, “The Fire” is still in the Top 10 iTunes charts unrivaled by any other local release for the past three years.

Ira’s manager said “So many songs, so many years have passed and yet I can never foresee what Ira is going to come up with next. We try our best to keep it fresh, exciting ,challenging and above all fun. It’s very easy to fall into the ‘predictable and safe’ pattern but Ira has always managed to re-invent herself and out do what she’s done in the past and that doesn’t come by very often.’

Different to previous releases, which were preceded by a radio release, 'Haunted by Love' has been simultaneously released with the music video which was directed by the talented James Vernon.

Also featured in the video is local boxing champion and sports icon Bertu Camilleri playing a cameo role as Ira’s mentor and trainer where she plays the part of a struggling boxer.

"I'm glad to be ending 2015 with the release of the first single from a new body of work we’ve been working very hard on. Although there’s still lots of work to do, we already have 18 tracks A-listed from around 40 tracks and I’m looking forward to release the album in 2016.

I believe that using every possible vehicle to bring across one’s music is of utmost importance in today's industry, where it can easily get lost in all the noise. I pour my heart and soul into what seems to me the best way of bringing my music to my audience in the most creative way possible" said Ira Losco. Errol Sammut, Johann Schembri, Chris Curmi and Steve Farrugia are a foursome who came together in a bid to redefine the music scene, releasing their debut album 'Minutes of a Lifetime' back in 2010. The journey did not stop there though, and with a loyal fan-base following their every move, a sophomore album entitled 'Mariette' was released earlier this year. Recorded and produced by Howard Keith of Jagged House, it quickly found it's way up to number #1 on the Digital iTunes Chart, even prior to official release.

It has been a long time in coming, but the group are ready to entertain massive crowds once more, this time in support of their recent release. A concert will be staged on the 7th June 2014 at the Greek Theatre in the Ta' Qali National Park with tickets being sold through the engine, Ticketline. Airport Impressions, a band which features; Errol Sammut, Johann Schembri, Chris Curmi and Steve Farrugia redefined the music scene with their debut album Minutes of a Lifetime back in 2010, giving the general public a feel of what proper pop/rock should sound like, has decided to rebrand themselves with a more folk/pop type of sound in the genre made famous by Mumford and Sons. In the past couple of days, a second album entitled Mariette, recorded and produced by Howard Keith of Jagged House was launched to positive acclaim by both members of the media and the public.

The release, preceded by their first single Hymns of June was given a boost by virtue of a first live performance at the Malta Music Awards early in February, where the band were nominated for a variety of awards missing out to their former record label mates Red Electrick. A digital copy of this album may be purchased through iTunes, where it has managed a top three placing on the charts for the past couple of weeks, whilst it could also be streamed through Spotify. Malta: Days Away from Sophomore Album Launch

Airport Impressions, a band which features; Errol Sammut, Johann Schembri, Chris Curmi and Steve Farrugia redefined the music scene with their debut album Minutes of a Lifetime back in 2010, giving the general public a feel of what proper pop/rock should sound like, without having the added twists or turns that the foreign music industry might sometimes apply. As a result, this genre has become extremely popular and has also led to the creation of new bands and groups such as Cryptic Street, The Crowns and Planet Seed amongst others.

In music, a hiatus could mean one of two things, the first one being a period of coming together to re-group and ultimately come back with a bag of tricks and the second one is some downtime which lets the ideas flow to the mind. Airport Impressions seem to have combined the best elements of the two possible options leading to the release of their highly anticipate sophomore album Mariette which will be officially launched on the 9th April 2014. Led by the release of the first single Hymns of June, the album sees the band with a mature sound, keeping their pop/rock touch on music with an additional folk feel, a sound which has been endorsed by Of Monsters and Men as well as Mumford and Sons.

The flair for performing has never gone away, and neither has the one for songwriting with band members showing their true creative skills when giving performing in front of the masses as seen earlier this year during the Malta Music Awards held at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre. escflashmalta.com will be reviewing the album when released, and is looking forward to hearing what lies ahead from this band which has grown in our eyes as the most progressive, and fresh sounding act to feature in the local music scene. Stay tuned for all the latest news from the local music scene.

In summer, Ira Losco launched her sixth studio album The Fire which spent well over two months in the top ten of the iTunes digital store and successfully spawned three singles; What I’d Give, The Person I Am (ft. David Leguesse) and Me Luv u Long Time. Nevertheless, she wanted a true connection with her fans as she commenced the search for a fourth single and therefore lined-up three songs, all of which bore a resemblance, despite being varied at the very same time. In a major collaboration with Coca-Cola and 89.7 Bay, she asked the general public, her fans to select her fourth single, and the choice was categorical, The Way It’s Meant to Be.

Ira Losco was clearly the star of this years' edition of the Bay Music Awards which took place last night at the Bay Arena in St Julians. She was awarded three prestigious awards by the end of the evening, including; the Presenters' Choice as voted by all the DJs at 89.7 Bay, the Best Song for her second single The Person I Am (ft David Leguesse) and a Recognition Award for always being there with current music for the past ten years, since the Bay Music Awards kicked-off in sterling fashion back in 2003. Remember that Ira Losco is a regular contributor at escflashmalta.com with a monthly blog in which she states her top five tracks. Airport impressions, which comprises of Errol Sammut, Johann Schembri, Chirs Curmi and Steve Farrugia are back, and have just released a new music video for the new single entitled Hymns of June, their first release off the yet untitled sophomore album due to the released early in 2014.

The video has been shot and produced in the UK by a British Manchester based production company and directed by experienced music video director Mr Adam Barker recently credited by Q-TV, Rock sound Magazine and other important names in the video industry. The music video was shot in Haworth, in the heart of the moors of the Bronte Country in West Yorkshire, which village is most famous for its authentic railway station which also features in the music video.

Mr Errol Sammut, front man of the band commented ‘we are honoured to have worked with such a professional production team and believe the ambience and landscapes have created a perfect set up for this type of song’. The song 'Hymns of June' features an ode to the simpleton and sees the band experiment into new musical ventures verging into folkish sounds which include the introduction of the banjo and double bass instruments alongside acoustic guitars amongst others.

Howard Keith, of Jagged House, their management company went onto state ‘Airport Impressions have come a long way and their songs are stronger than ever. The 2nd album is always the trickiest step for any band but I believe we have captured the essence of the band whilst leaving the album to have it’s own musical journey’.
