In 2008, a brand new competition known as the Summer Hit Song Contest was given birth, with the aim being to submit entries with a particular flavour, one which the radio stations across the country would have no issue in promoting through airplay. A professional panel of judges assessed the quality of each respective submission before reaching a verdict, one which gave rise to the comeback of Miriam Christine.

Alone Today which the female singer/songwriter wrote also got a music video which was played on national television. In the following years; Neville, Romina Mamo, Minik and Siconix also established themselves as winners of the competition, denoting the rise of new talent and establishing a brand. F Living has decided to revive the competition, led by stalwart Deo Grech with the submissions set to be received at BME Studios in Luqa on Saturday 24th May 2014.

Each submission is to be handed in against a fee of €50 in total. There are cash prizes to be won by the top three of the competition, whilst the winner of the sms voting will get a seperate award as to ascertain a professional choice. For more information, visit the Official Facebook Page. On the 15th September, the final of the Malta Summer Hit Song Contest will be aired on F Living with the recording set to take place in the weeks preceding the date. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all the latest news.

It seems that summer of 2014, will be buzzing with music events more than ever! One (1) local music event which is set to return this summer, is the much-awaited Summer Hit Song Contest, which might switch television channels for the very first time, having been launched on ONE, six (6) years ago. Sources close to the local organisers, have confirmed that the producers of the song contest have been in talks with more than one television channel for this year's edition and seems that a deal will soon be finalised with a particular broadcaster, which has shown particular interest in this production.

In the meantime, the same sources have confirmed to escflashmalta.com that the return of this competition will bring with it a major promotional campaign spread on television and social media with all the participants given equal airtime. The aim is simple, to entertain television viewers with the best possible music throughout the course of the summer, in the search of a hit song for the summer of 2014. Rules and regulations have not been published yet, however one assumes that the main rules will remain the same - meaning that all submitted entries shall be in the English language, Maltese langauge or a mixture of both; all participants (including the songwriters) should be citizens of Malta and all finalist singers should be available to participate on the weekly tv show as required by the producers - thus enabling a wide and equal promotion to all entries.

The initial run of the competition between 2008 and 2011 saw to the victories of Miriam Christine (Alone Today), Neville Refalo (One Day), Romina Mamo (Poison Ivy) and Minik ft Siconix (Let's Party). For more results, please be sure to visit the page dedicated to the competition on our portal, here. Once again, escflashmalta.com will be one of the main platforms for the promotion of the artists participating in the Summer Hit Song Contest 2014, and thus we urge you to stay tuned for more information in the coming days as we await an official confirmation.
