It is a fair comment to pass that bands whose sound does not evolve, are somewhat archaic and stuck. Red Electrick have definitely made this their mantra, having developed a sound which, whilst instantly recognisable, is also very current. Their latest release "Young Again", echoes a similar aura to "Paul", their hit single from 2013, but this is bigger, and better, not too mention, featuring the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Matthew James Borg, Raphael Tonna, Ivan Borg, Jonas Delicata and Peter Borg are without a doubt extremely talent musicians, with a true penchanct for live performances. Yet, the standout element surely has to be the distinctive vocal performance of Matthew James Borg, who has proven on countless occasions, that when the music is stripped back, his voice is vulnerable to the surrounding air, creating gooseflesh, leaving a mark, a deep meaning and an eventual yearning for more.

Winners of the Best Band and the Best Song accolade at the 2014 Malta Music Awards solidified their position in the local music industry. In support of the single release, Red Electrick have issued a music video, produced by Stargate Studios, one which has already amassed more than 12,000 views on YouTube. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

The Public Broadcasting Services, a member of the European Broadcasting Union and a participant in the Eurovision Song Contest, has always prepared well for the event, noting the national selection procedure has always managed to secure the interests of songwriters, producers and artists. The prize is somewhat intriguing because one would get the opportunity to perform in front of millions of people, get interviewed by some of the leading media in the continent and also have the distinct possibility of meeting some astonishing names in the music industry due to the high profile that the competition carries. As a matter of fact, 2013 is not set to be any different to be honest, due to the fact that there are a number of acts who are trying to represent their country who are already well known including; Daze in Denmark and Cascada in Germany keeping in mind that Anouk has already been selected for The Netherlands. escflashmalta.com is covering all of the entries competing in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with an award set to be given by a panel of five critics from the foreign industry who have assessed our respective entries. The eleventh entry is Never Walk Away performed by Chris Grech and co-written with Peter Borg, Matthew James Borg and David Cassar Torreggiani.

Chris Grech has always shown that his heart is deep rooted within the sphere of music showing as a child that he wanted to be the one to play the guitar and hopefully headline concerts and one cannot say that this has not been the case in the past couple of years noting that whilst being a newcomer to the local music scene with regards to this competition, he has already become a sensation through his participation in other events. Thinking things through, Chris eventually contacted some friends and finally got his own band going on and together shared a vast amount of experiences, learning the ropes and performing across the country and receiving a positive response. A couple of years later, Chris was performing on his own and was approached by another band known as Twenty-Six Other-Worlds. The offer was simple and sought him to become their lead vocalist. In time, he accepted and thus, the vocal abilities that one could hear nowadays are a result of what he has achieved and what one could hear on their debut album entitled Manipulated released back in 2009. One of the headlining events that Chris has performed in is surely the Rockestra, an annual event held on behalf of the Malta Community Chest Fund in which he sung Gethsemane, The Show Must Go On, and Caruso. The audience were thrilled to hear him perform on each occasion.

The underdog has a notoriety for coming out on top on certain occasions and considering the people are responding to the track in the way that they are, is quite something and this is well recorded through the views being received on viral website, YouTube as well as being in the lead in the poll which has attracted more than five thousand votes in just over two weeks. This is not the typical entry that has come to define the Malta Eurovision Song Contest and it shows the emergence of one local music scene and not two defined through competition. Whether it is pop, ballad, rock, jazz, metal, dance or r'n'b, it is all music and that has to be prevalent in the event because the people and the jury want a choice, they want to make the distinction and send the best possible entry. Songwriting credit for Never Walk Away is attributed to Peter Borg and Matthew James Borg of Red Electrick, the band which is currently sweeping the nation with regards to music noting that their single Paul has most recently been voted as the best song at the Bay Music Awards as well as David Cassar Torreggiani who is competing in this competition alongside his band, Scar fronted by Konrad Pule who have also been making hits in the industry with their track White Lie which was also nominated for the same award mentioned above. Combining the power of powerhouse songwriters seemingly works and has given this product, one that is strong in actuality.

The Critics Speak Out

Rating: 59%

Sharon Vaughn: I don't understand what this song is trying to say. The text is very contradictory… a lot of pretty words that don't fit the title or the rest of the song. A nice pure voice, too bad on the song selection.

Martin Isherwood: No idea what the song is about. Very hard to follow any line of meaning in the lyric. Good strong voice with rough edges. Standard rock tune but offering little that's fresh. Not really a Eurovision entry at all.

Stano Simor: In the beginning, the song had already impressed me. Excellent vocal range and color of voice. Song has good modern sound. Never Walk Away is a typical radio pop rock song. I'm not sure whether it is a song for Eurovision, which would take a Eurovision audience. If the song is already fully launched already after first chorus ,the songs, would be more powerful and impressive.

Roberto Meloni: I like a lot this song, his stunning vocal skills and the arrangement too. A dark horse in the competition.

Lina Eriksson: I kind of like this melancholic tune but I’m not mad about it. The whole package feels a bit dated and not 2013.

The Public Broadcasting Services are highlighting every inch of detail to make sure that this years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest is even better than the past two years in which the current administration decided to revamp the process by virtue of bringing in a more professional setup. Guests have always been an intriguing element of the showcase and there are rumours floating about with regards to who will ultimately becoming a part of the show but the focus here is with the participants themselves noting that the twenty four semi-finals will be having a number of additional individuals in the wings, taking care of vocal roles within the respective tracks. We have been in touch with a number of performers and their respective managements and learned some intriguing names will ultimately be seen despite not entering the semi-final stage of this years' competition. escflashmalta.com is exclusively bringing you a list of the names unveiled.

Kicking off things with the respective announcements was none other than Davinia who will be closing the semi-final at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Betrayed composed by Elton Zarb and penned by Muxu. She will be joined on stage by three backing vocalists which include; Rachael Tedesco Triccas and Jade Cini from the hit series D.R.E.A.M.S who will also be opening the showcase as well as former Junior Eurovision Song Contest representative; Nicole Azzopardi who is seemingly eyeing a possible entry in the next couple of years. The second performer is none other than Danica Muscat who will be performing the song Fantasy composed by Paul Abela and penned by Joe Julian Farrugia and will be joined by a fleet of people which feature Claire Mercieca, Chrissy Warrington, Jody Magri, as well as former Malta Eurovision Song Contest finalists; Dario Mifsud Bonnici and Benjamin Darmanin.

It was revealed yesterday that a request had also been made by Kevin Borg to have former Eurovision Song Contest representative; Glen Vella join the backing vocalists but due to his recent participation, this was not accepted and thus Glen will be taking care of a team of unknown backing vocalists which is rumoured to have several members of the Animae Gospel Choir which Glen and Pamela created a couple of years back. In an exclusive announcement, we are proud to reveal that former Malta Song for Europe finalist; Fiona Cauchi will be present within the team of Claudia Faniello who will be presenting the track When It's Time co-written between the performer and Errol Sammut, lead vocalist of Airport Impressions. The full team of this entry will be unveiled in due course on her Official Facebook Page. In a revelation made today on social networking website; Facebook it seems that Dorothy Bezzina of the song Starting from the End written by Magnus Kaxe and Gerard James Borg will be joined by upcoming artist; Martina Farrugia.

Two of the most intriguing performers in this years' Malta Eurovision Song Contest are definitely Chris Grech with the track Never Walk Away co-written by Matthew James Borg, Peter Borg and David Cassar Torreggiani and Melanie Zammit with the song Loverdose co-written between Maria & Niclas Lundin and Gerard James Borg. They have both spoken to us and told us of the people that will be joining them on stage with the male artist bringing about one of his composers; Matthew James Borg of Red Electrick fame on stage alongside the upcoming Cheryl Balzan with the female on the other hand bringing two newcomers in the vein of Ann Gauci and Gabriella Azzopardi alongside Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza and Malta Hit Song Contest finalist; Talitha Dimech. MESC 2013: 'Never Walk Away' Most Viewed Thus Far

2012 is becoming another relic in just a couple of days time noting that Christmas has officially come to an end and people are paving the way for the new year which will surely be intriguing especially for those who might have thought that the world was really coming to an end. The Public Broadcasting Services wasn't an entity which had such a belief and thus started to organise the 2013 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest noting that the list of twenty-four semi-finalists was concluded just a couple of days back following the withdrawal of Dress Rehearsal by Saska Hunt which was eventually replaced by Marilena Gauci with the song Overrated. Whilst the official videos are being widely promoted on the engine used by the Public Broadcasting Services within their website, they have also been uploaded on viral website, YouTube and thus, one could take up the idea of views per track and it seems that the top five is quite intriguing with the leader of the pack running away with it at the present moment.

The track Never Walk Away co-written between Peter Borg, Matthew James Borg, David Cassar Torreggiani and Chris Grech has wracked up the most views at the moment noting that the band influenced entry performed by Chris Grech is being singled out for the very reason why the artist has become known, his raspy vocals which soar towards the end of the track making it sound like that typical song from the radio. It has not been a case of the locals falling in love with it wholeheartedly noting that there is a lot of foreign support for the track which sounds like a promising single from a budding new artist, stating what people have come to denote it. At this present moment, it has managed to garner around 10,000 views and has been shared many times of social media including Facebook and Twitter. Chris Grech himself is not a well known artist to be receiving multiple views based on his name so this is pretty much an intriguing start.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL_eOVKUXvY

In second place comes none other than Kevin Borg with his entry Needing You a co-write between Thomas Thornholm, Simon Gribbe, Dan Attlerud and Michael Clauss. This has to be the most obvious option because despite the national interest at hand, the following that Kevin has in Sweden is relatively huge and therefore, the hits are picking up slowly and have at this point in time gone up to more than 6,000. This could be dubbed to be a mixture between the Maltese and Scandinavian ballad because it has a slow build up worked mainly around the vocals of the performer which also have a slight rasp to them in the vein of an Italian performer or even one of his good friends, Fabrizio Faniello. The fact that the Eurovision Song Contest is set to be held in Sweden seems to be the asset that many people are counting on and having a host country working in your favourite is definitely a positive idea.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as2sMXXlXBk

A newcomer always somewhat finds it difficult to kick start their preparations for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in the best order but it seems that glitz and glamour are calling onto a new performer, one whose name is Melanie Zammit and who will be performing Loverdose composed by Niclas and Maria Lundin and penned by Gerard James Borg, whose international collaborations are becoming somewhat more common in recent years. Melanie Zammit is a relative unknown in the Maltese music scene having only released one single prior to this competition through 89.7 Bay Radio and also major television stations. She has charisma and fashion sense and that seems to have got the crowd going but nevertheless, it is important to say that her pop/dance number is putting people in third gear and dancing along even in places where they shouldn't. The live performance is going to be quite the showcase, or rather, that is my feeling.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnT3TgeyQLA

Whenever a certain songwriters comes into the fray, it seems that it could be pure instant gold and as a matter of fact, Thomas G:Son who also co-wrote the winning entry of this years' Eurovision Song Contest has worked with the renowned local songwriting duo of Philip Vella and Gerard James Borg to create Ultraviolet performed by Jessika who is currently in a process of re-branding herself. The singer/songwriter who is also starring in a television series known as Il-Klikka on ONE Television has been receiving a lot of positive comments with regards to her track whose opening notes have been similarly linked to Emeli Sande's popular song Next to Me but nevertheless, the focus here is definitely on the catchy tune which one easily hums along and performed at the slightest listen. Jessika has become a true artist and with the right staging, this could very much be one of the favourites on the night. It has received almost 4,000 views at the moment making it the fourth most watched entry.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2vO8vxYFjk

The final track that we are featuring due to being in the top five of the most viewed thus far is none other than Tomorrow performed by Gianluca Bezzina and co-written between Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat. The songwriters are not your typical festival duo and as a matter of fact, it shows that the competition is becoming more of a merge between the festival and the radio scene making it one of the most successful transitions in the industry. This Jason Mraz, Train inspired entry is hitting the right notes with many people due to the fact that it puts you in a cheery disposition and instantly get you hooked. Humming is one of the most important elements to get to know a particular track and this is one of those songs which you hum along daily without even realizing. It has received around 3,500 views at the moment and seems to be most vulnerable at the helm but nevertheless, a charming pop/acoustic number. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news about the 2013 Malta Eurovision Song Contest.

The Malta Community Chest Fund is the largest charity in the country which is proudly represented by His Excellency The President of Malta along with his wife in order to give it more of a dignified stance in the respective aim which is put forward time and time again. The largest event which benefits this organization takes place around this time in the form of a spectacular showcase of local talent known as Rockestra involving live music played by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sigmund Mifsud. This year, the date has been set for Saturday, 15th September with the venue being the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre, home of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year.
