Gaia Cauchi, winner of the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with "The Start", an original song co-written by Elton Zarb, Matt 'Muxu' Mercieca and Gillian Attard, was recently the subject of much attention, after having successfully been the first representative of Malta at the prestigious 'New Wave Festival' in Russia.

In contention with several other participants from all around the globe, the young bundle of joy was awarded top spot by the professional panel of judges, closely followed by Krisia of Bulgaria, whom had also participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, albeit in 2014, also finishing in the 1st runner-up position.

"I was a little bit scared ... but it was a true honour and honestly, I worked really hard for it ..." stated Gaia Cauchi in exclusive comments to escflashmalta.com following her victory. Once more, this was not only a personal achievement but also one for Malta.
