In just one (1) week, the semi-final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre under the hospice of the Public Broadcasting Services. Earlier this afternoon, it was officially confirmed that former representatives; Gianluca and Ira Losco as well as veteran host, Moira Delia will be undertaking the roles of hosts of this years’ prestigious competition being aired on Television Malta.

Prior to their appearance in the competition, they will be taking to the WE Studios later on this evening for one last promotional effort at Xarabank, hosted by Peppi Azzopardi. All of the artists competing in the semi-final in a weeks' time will be present for a series of chats, fact-finding missions and more entertainment which is very much reminiscent of a weekend show rather than a late night chat show. One of the artists will eventually follow in the footsteps of Gianluca and his entry Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat, which finished in eighth place, the best result for Malta at the international competition since 2005. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all the latest news.

At this years' edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Gianluca was selected to represent Malta with the track Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat, finishing in eighth place. It will be quite an intriguing element to see who will follow the success achieved by the singing doctor, especially after also managing to succeed at this years' Junior Eurovision Song Contest where Gaia Cauchi was the victor. The 2014 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 7th and 8th February at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre. It has only been two (2) weeks since the revelation of the twenty (20) entries that have made it through to the semi-final stage of next years’ edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, with the Public Broadcasting Services planning a promotional schedule for each of the artists over the next couple of weeks. First things first though as tomorrow marks the beginning of a new journey with the recording of the official video clips, which will be shared through social media and will also play a pivotal part in the escflashmalta.com awards presented by ONE Radio 92.7.

It is important to point out that apart from the official preview videos, all of the artists were called into the Public Broadcasting Services yesterday in order to record what was coined as a postcard, that will support the preview video during the promotional campaign. Next years’ edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest set for the 7th and 8th February 2014 will be taking place at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali and will most likely be part of the Malta Music Weekend, also incorporating the Malta Music Awards. In recent days, the Public Broadcasting Services published the names of the entries competing in next years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, an effort which will see someone step into the shoes of Gianluca whose entry Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat finished in eighth place. The event, slated to take place on the 7th and 8th February at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre will see to the participation of twenty (20) acts, all vying for the unique prize of representing the country at the biggest musical event in Europe.

At first glance, two names stand out, and of course, those are of two former representatives of Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest; Miriam Christine and Fabrizio Faniello. On second look, I would have to note more artists who have returned to the competition, including the likes of Andreana, Romina Mamo, Wayne William, Sophie DeBattista; a former Junior Eurovision Song Contest representative and Pamela; backing vocalist for Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010 and 2011 respectively. It's always positive to see artists who have been missing for a period of time, because it means that they rekindled their flame after a couple of years off.

The newcomers to the festival are also ones which are very much intriguing to denote with Christabelle Borg never declaring herself interested in representing Malta abroad. The four time Best Solo Artist Award winner at the BMAs has thrown her hat into the ring as she heads one of the twenty (20) available bids. Despite being a renowned figure, Daniel Testa's Junior Eurovision Song Contest days are well behind him and his days at a DJ at 89.7 Bay are helping define a personal genre, one which he will be taking to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Joining him there is Ryan Paul Abela, son of Maestro Paul Abela who has written some of Malta's most iconic entries for the international showcase.

Two final newcomers worth a mention are Debbie Stivala and Raquel Galdes, the latter having been a finalist in this years' edition of the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza and the former being a collaborator with notable band, Tribali. On the other hand, the other artists in the field were all present during this years' edition, including none other than; Amber, Davinia, Jessika, Franklin Calleja, Chris Grech, Corazon and Deborah C. It is worth noting that Richard Edwards has joined forces with sister Michelle Mifsud in a band known as Fire Light. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com as the latest news about the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is unraveled.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaQ1od0LAiU

Glen Vella, the male vocalist who represented Malta at the 2011 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the track One Life composed by Paul Giordimaina to the lyrics of Fleur Balzan has just recorded a cover of the track You're The Voice in a duet with Pamela with whom he has collaborated on a series of original tracks and covers across the years. Amongst them was the song Loved By You composed by Paul Giordimaina to the lyrics of Fleur Balzan, which made it to the semi-finals of the 2008 Malta Song for Europe competition.

Glen was aiding Kevin Borg which his participation in this years' Malta Eurovision Song Contest whilst Pamela has been out of the spotlight since representing her country as a backing vocalist in 2010 and 2011 respectively. They are currently working together on a brand new project entitled Junction apart from leading the Gospel Choir known as Animae which has been around for the past couple of years. Glen has never shied away from stating that he would love to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest once more whilst Pamela has seemingly stopped participating as a lead vocalist, something which is quite disappointing unfortunately. This cover was recorded in support of a concert which is being organised by both vocalists and their students noting that they are both leading vocal trainers. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.

It has been a great start to what looks like an amazing week full of live music – the Beland Music Festival kicked off in spectacular fashion last night with the participation of local heartthrob Kevin Borg who serenaded the crowd with his magical voice and charisma. The Beland Music Festival this year moved from the Market Square to Bulebel and one can say that the move was a success, the festival got bigger and if today’s concert was anything to go by one can easily say it got even better.

Barber’s Cut, a new upcoming band led by Kelly Busuttil opened proceedings and got the crowd going; showing that they indeed have potential. The audience seemed to have enjoyed the relatively unknown band, who mixed it up playing some of the most popular hits. They were followed by the talented Glen Vella and Pamela, who entertained the crowd with a number of popular cover versions. As the time went on, the crowd got bigger and bigger, everyone awaiting the arrival of Kevin Borg and when he finally took the stage Kevin received a hero’s welcome in Bulebel.

He kicked off proceedings with his Swedish Idol Winner’s single With Every Bit of Me and continued with a mix of cover versions and songs from his own repertoire. He closed the first part of the concert with his Malta Eurovisision entry, Needing You, where he was accompanied by former Eurovision representative Glen Vella, Pamela, Josef Tabone and Janice Mangion. The second part of the show was as strong and the crowd cherished every moment with cheering, waving and singing at the top of their lungs to Kevin’s hits. Kevin was clearly moved and described the event as being even better than his Swedish Idol final as he had never expected so many people to attend the event in aid of Puttinu Cares.

Kevin encouraged the people to attend and donate to this genuine cause. Tonight’s music festival will feature Malta’s top female artist – Ira Losco is set to take the stage for her first Summer gig and her first gig after the launch of her album The Fire which proved to be a major success. She is expected to sing some of her latest songs along with a few numbers from her previous records, she will be supported by The New Victorians an up and coming band and also Planet Seed fronted by Klinsmann. For more details on what to expect during the Beland Music Festival you can visit the programme here or their official Facebook Page.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iT3Tl5vGYs

It is important to note that on Thursday, the organizers behind the Beland Music Festival saw it fit to organize a big screen in order to support Malta’s bid in the Eurovision Song Contest – so we encourage you to join with your family and friends, grab your Maltese flags and on Thursday go and watch the Second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Bulebel as part of the Beland Music Festival. The atmosphere is expected to be electrifying as there is nothing more special than cheering for the Maltese representative together and creating a mini Eurovision atmosphere here in Malta.

Apart from enjoying the live music for a great cause, at the Beland Music Festival you can chill and relax, there’s a children’s area and a number of stalls where people can just sit there as the concert is ongoing. There is something for all the family and for all the music lovers it is something you surely can’t miss as apart from donating towards Puttinu Cares you would be also supporting the local talent who invest so much time and effort to deliver a great product. So make sure to visit the Beland Music Festival and donate something for a great cause. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.
