Malta: Charity Song features Ensemble of Stars

In the past couple of years, charity has been one of the most pivotal aspects in the creation of a state, which while somewhat limited in resources, is not lacking in generosity, with record funds being targeted and achieved every year. "L-Istrina" is the most important charity event, with funds given to various organisations.

As a means of supporting this noble gesture, a theme song is recorded, and what is intriguing is that several familiar faces make an appearance, all in the face of charity. This year, the song is entitled "Int Min Int", and is composed by Dominic Cini to the lyrics of Giovann Attard with production entrusted to Elton Zarb of Freetime Productions.

"Int Min Int" features the vocals of; Amber (ESC 2015), Dominic (MESC 2015), Renato (ESC 1975) , Ina Robinich, Federica Falzon (JESC 2014), Gaia Cauchi (JESC 2013), La Barokka, Mary Spiteri (ESC 1992), Mary Rose Mallia, Noel Zarb, Georgina (ESC 1991), Janvil (MESC 2005-2006, 2009), Josmar, Iona Dalli (MESC 2015), Lawrence Gray (MESC 1998, 1999, 2001-2004, 2010, 2012, 2015), Ludwig Galea (ESC 2004), Deborah C (MESC 12-14).

We urge you to watch, and donate during this year's edition of "L-Istrina" as it is aired on Television Malta, ONE Television, NET Television, F Living and Smash Television during the traditional "Boxing Day", otherwise also known as the 26th December, the day following Christmas. Gaia Cauchi, internally selected by the Public Broadcasting Services to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Kiev, Ukraine on the 30th November is set to give her debut live performance during the International Festival of Maltese Song which in turn is being staged at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. The young female vocalist will be taking to the stage as one of the special guests during the star studded evening which will feature performances from twenty-six (26) artists, all of which will be competing either in the local or the foreign category, as set forth by the organising committee.

The Start co-written by Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard has received extremely positive comments since unveiled to the general public on television programme; Xarabank produced by WE MEDIA. It has to be noted that Malta is one of the favourites for this years' edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, a tad surprising considering our two year absence from the event. It is also rumoured that the Public Broadcasting Services has been in direct talks with the European Broadcasting Union over hosting next years' edition of the small yet international event.

The International Festival of Maltese Song is returning to the local music scene following an absence of eleven (11) years and is being led by a seven member strong committee and three consultants under the auspices of the Parliamentary Secretary for Culture and Local Councils, Hon. Dr. J. Herrera in collaboration with the World Association of Festival organisers and Artists. It will be hosted by a variety of local performers including; Renato, Mary Rose Mallia, Debbie Scerri, Lawrence Gray and renowned host; Alfred Zammit. Broadcast will commence on TVM 2 at 19:30 and will move to TVM at 20:45. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.

The International Festival of Maltese Song is technically, the second biggest competition on the Maltese Islands, following to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest and therefore, it goes without saying that the Public Broadcasting Services in line with the organising committee is pulling out all the stops for a show stopping event.

In 2010, the first runner-up at the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza was none other than Gloriana Arpa Belli, a relative minnow in the local music industry. Her song entitled Fil-Mużika composed by Renato Briffa to the lyrics of Doris Chetcuti almost upset the eventual winner Trid Tapprezza composed by Ray Agius to the lyrics of Alfred C Sant with vocals provided by Amber with just a handful of votes deciding the final result. escflashmalta.com is in a position to reveal that Gloriana intends to make her mark by entering the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014 framework by contributing to the submissions.

Gloriana Arpa Belli might be a relative unknown but nevertheless, her experience within the music scene should be well respected having been a backing vocalist for several notable artists including the likes of Anna Azzopardi, a two time Malta Eurovision Song Contest participant. Her genealogical background is quite intriguing as well, noting that her mother is none other than Helen Micallef, Malta's 1972 representative with her uncle being Renato, Malta's 1975 representative. This means that one day, Gloriana might continue keeping participation at the Eurovision Song Contest within the family.

Gloriana is the first artist to confirm submission into the Malta Eurovision Song Contest without having previously been a part of the showcase. At this point in time, escflashmalta.com has exclusively revealed that former runners-up; Janvil, Eleanor Cassar, Richard Edwards, Tiziana Calleja and Kaya will all be trying their luck whilst veterans Nadine Axisa and Klinsmann will be opting out of the selection process. Davinia, last years' second runner-up confirmed submission on the programme; TVPM hosted by Corazon. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for more EXCLUSIVE news about the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
