L-Għanja tal-Poplu, a local music competition, known to breathe life into the music industry, officially takes on a new dimension as of today, as more details emerge. escflashmalta.com is in an exclusive position to announce that the hosts for this year will be none other than; Ryan Borg of “Sibtek” and Angie Laus of “Ħadd Għalik”. This year’s competition features an extravagant mixture of upcoming and established vocalists, all vying to join that coveted honour roll, which has seen to the emergence of several artists throughout the years.

The most recent winner, Karen DeBattista, whose “Jien Ma Naħdimx” written by Mark Scicluna and Rita Pace has become truly iconic, will be one of the special guests during the show. It is expected that she will be performing prior to the start of the competition, whose running order has now also been drawn by four of the contestants, whilst being interviewed on the programme “Mill-Għanja tal-Poplu” hosted by Tony Micallef on Radju Malta 2.

Malta: Domenique Returns on TVM every Saturday

Domenique, one of the most promising vocalists that the local music scene is proud to offer, has just been in touch with the editorial team of escflashmalta.com in order to confirm her weekly presence on the show "Sibtek". Hosted by Ryan Borg on Television Malta every Saturday afternoon, the programme features a host of well known individuals from the entertainment industry.

At just 15 years of age, in 2011, Domenique made it through to the semi-final of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song "I'll Follow the Sunshine" composed by Ralph Siegel to the lyrics of Bernd Meinunger. She might not have made the final on that occasion but set the bar high for the future, eventually getting through to the competition once more in 2013, this time with the song "Too Little Too Late" composed by Marc Paelinck to the lyrics of Matthias Strasser. She made it through to the final on that occasion.

The Public Broadcasting Services will be making use of both television stations, TVM and TVM 2 in order to air the International Festival of Maltese Song later on this evening. The premier broadcaster will be giving all of the fourteen (14) local acts a final push towards the competition through TVM and its flagship Saturday afternoon programme; Sibtek hosted by Ryan Borg. The programme which kicks off at 12:45 CET is set to include several guest appeances including from former winners; Enzo Gusman (1996), Catherine Vigar (1997), Lawrence Gray (1999, 2002) and Georgina (2001).

The latter vocalist, who represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1991 alongside Paul Giordimaina with the song Could It Be composed by Paul Abela to the lyrics of Ray Mahoney will also be a backing vocalist with a number of acts. The International Festival of Maltese Song will be taking place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, kicking off at 19:45 CET for the foreigners and transmitted on TVM 2 and then at 20:45 CET for the local participants with broadcast on TVM. escflashmalta.com has proudly supported the event from day 1 and worked hard to ensure that each act receives the best possible promotion.
