Kurt Calleja, the male singer/songwriter who represented Malta in the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with "This Is The Night", a song he co-wrote with Johan Jamtberg and Mikael Gunneras, has been in touch with the editorial team at escflashmalta.com to deny possible submission into the 2015 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, which is officially set to take place on the 22nd November at the Malta Shipbuilding in Marsa.

"I wanna return one day to Eurovision with a bang - give it my all - at the moment I have so many projects at once that I will end up doing it with very little energy - Eurovision requires focus, determination and a positive message ... which I generally have but it is scattered on my one thousand and one different projects going on. So as much as I would love to be on that stage again very very soon - as much as I love it and miss it - 2015 is gonna be a miss for me ... good luck to all the participants - wishing them all the very very best - may the best man, woman or duo or group win."

In recent weeks, Kurt Calleja has been extremely busy promoting his latest single release "Vertigo", off his debut album "Love on Mars" for which you may see the recently launched music video. The song, produced in a pop/dance manner has also entered Malta's Top Ten with Nathan D on 89.7 Bay by peaking at number #8. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news about the 2015 edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2012, Kurt Calleja was the name on everyone's lips, having been chosen unanimously by both the public and the professional jury to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest with "This Is The Night" which saw the Mediterranean Islands head into the final for the first time in two years. Since then, the male vocalist has been relatively busy working on his debut album "Love on Mars", which was unveiled during a concert in aid of Inspire Foundation.

The latest single off his album which bears the name "Vertigo", written by Tim Laws, Steve Lee and Chris Madin, is being support through a music video. Like Ira Losco, the premise is also seemingly dedicated to the seasonal outlook in Malta at the moment with Kurt being at the beach and on a boat, somewhat always surrounded by water. We urge you to stay tuned into escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news from the local music scene.

Lyndsay, fresh off the release of her eighth single, "Letter 25", a collaboration with Lulu Agius, had the pleasure to meet me for a chat in recent weeks, for a special feature interview for The Sunday Times of Malta. It was revealed that Lyndsay is currently flirting with the idea of entering the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in 2015, should the competition still exist, denoting the recent rumours going round that an internal selection is a possibility.

Speaking highly with regards to the production of both the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, as well as the song quality in recent years, Lyndsay states 'never say never as they say, although I am very much tempted, having had loads of fun as a backing vocalist to both Ally and Klinsmann when they competed', in direct reference to her participation in 2011 and 2013, joining the entourage of "Numb" and "The Remedy".

The female singer/songwriter went onto add that the boundaries between the competition and radio airplay have almost been brought down completely, quickly pointing out the success of Kurt Calleja with "This Is The Night" in 2012, and Gianluca with "Tomorrow" in 2013. "As an artist, I think it was pretty unfair to see fellow friends of mine face difficulties in getting their songs played on the radio knowing the amount of time and work which goes into creating a song".

Lyndsay and Lulu will be unveiling the official music video accompaying "Letter 25", a co-write between Lyndsay, Lulu and Boris Cezek, during an acoustic session at The Villa in St Julians. The entrance to the event is free of charge, and we are sure that you will have a splendid time in a beautiful atmosphere. We urge you to stay tuned to escflashmalta.com even through Facebook and Twitter for all the latest news.

This was followed by a debut album "Love on Mars" which included further singles "Leap of Faith" and title track "Love on Mars". At this moment, the male vocalist is working on releasing a music video to accompany his latest track "Vertigo" with WE Media, led by Duane and Angie Laus, leading the production team. Answer With Your Eyes, composed by Ray Agius to the lyrics of Alfred C Sant, with vocals provided by Amber was the second runner-up, behind Claudia Faniello's Pure, composed by Philip Vella to the lyrics of Gerard James Borg and Kurt Calleja's This is the Night which he co-wrote with Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås. Her top three position might have solidified her the opinion of critics though, having later on that month been selected to replace Ylenia Vella as backing vocalist.

In a recent interview with local magazine Gwida, the young female vocalist revealed that she was worried about her reputation in the music industry, one which was budding at the time, having thought about being the villain and taking up a role which did not initially belong to her. At the time, she asked the delegation whether her withdrawal would have seen Ylenia back in the position of backing vocalist. The reply was a categorical 'no' and that the first runner-up of the audition stage would have been given the opportunity instead. Therefore, she took on the challenge of representing Malta as a backing vocalist. Later on that year, Amber was also a guest singer during the Concert of Joseph Calleja, performing a duet entitled A Thousand Years.

Earlier this year, another blunder saw Amber becoming the talk of the competition, noting that an accredited member of the official website of the Eurovision Song Contest, incorrectly published a piece which stated that In Control composed by Paul Giordimaina to the lyrics of Fleur Balzan would be representing Malta at the event. The information was incorrect, especially for the simple reason that the voting process had not even commenced but nevertheless, as the artists gathered on the stage, where the greenroom was situated, there was a lot of fuss. Clarification was required and this is something that Anton Attard, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Broadcasting Services dealt with immediately, the following day. Amber has since been working hard on more new material and has just been selected as one of the semi-finalists in next years' edition of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Malta: Eurostars Appointed Reading Ambassadors

In recent days, the town of Sliema was marking International Literacy Day as part of a brand new project kick started by the government in order to encourage reading especially to the younger generations whose life has somewhat been gobbled up by technology. Aiding proceedings and appointed as Reading Ambassadors were none other than former Eurovision Song Contest representatives; Kurt Calleja, Gianluca and Ira Losco. Their support to the initiative is vital because they are individuals in the public eye and thus have a certain following.

Kurt Calleja, who represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 with the track This Is The Night which he co-wrote with Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås has just unveiled his debut album, Love on Mars, Gianluca just released his debut album Waiting for Tomorrow following his eighth place finish at the prestigious international competition with the track Tomorrow co-written by Boris Cezek and Dean Muscat whilst Ira Losco who honoured her nation at the 2002 international spectacle with 7th Wonder composed by Philip Vella to the lyrics of Gerard James Borg is currently promoting the track Me Luv u Long Time, the third single off her sixth studio album, The Fire.

Both the male and the female vocalist took to the stage to share their love of reading, conveying a message of how one could enter a different world whilst educating oneself with what is being published. It is also important to denote that whilst Ira Losco suggested the book 'Goggle Eyes' written by Anne Fine, Kurt Calleja suggest the series 'Harry Potter' written by celebrated author JK Rowling. It has also been acknowledged that more reading ambassadors will be revealed in due course, including ones from the entertainment industry. Kurt Calleja, Malta's representative at the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is looking to further his career according to a recent twitter post aimed directly at Simon Cowell, the individual behind the lucrative talent show, The X Factor. Following his victory at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the track This Is The Night co-written with Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås, he represented the nation in Baku, Azerbaijan where he obtained forty-one points in a twenty-first placed finish.

Upon his return from the Eurovision Song Contest, Kurt Calleja found solace on 89.7 Bay, Malta's leading radio station with the release of the single Boomerang which saw him nominated as best soloist at the Bay Music Awards whilst also giving him maximum airplay. The first single off the debut album, Love On Mars proved to be the beginning of something special or so one thought noting that his follow-up tracks have not managed to garner as much attention. On a positive note though, the album was launched with a major concert in aid of the Inspire Foundation with special guest acts including former Eurovision Song Contest representatives; Chiara and Gianluca as well as multiple national final participant, Amber, Malta Music Awards Best Solo Artist winner, Brooke and current charting sensation, Maxine Pace. Kevin Paul Calleja, brother of Kurt Calleja, representative on behalf of Malta at the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the track This Is The Night co-written alongside Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås. Living in the shadow of a brother is not particularly easy, something seen with Claudia Faniello who many had thought might not be able to shy away from Fabrizio Faniello, a two time representative of the nation at the international spectacle. Kevin is already aiming big though, taking his musical skills into recording a cover of the song Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia.

During the 2012 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Kevin Paul Calleja was the only family member to accompany Kurt on stage and this was seen as a positive move due to the fact that the two gelled extremely well together. Both artists had been on stage also at the 2011 Malta Eurovision Song Contest when Kurt had submitted the entry Over and Over which finished in third place. An official music video accompanying the cover directed by Daniel Abdilla was shot within a garage and the dark colours used seem to show a dark side to the song noting that the arrangement is stripped down to extreme basics. Taylor Swift meets Carly Rae Jepsen is the best way to describe Fed Up, the debut single of thirteen year old female vocalist, Maxine Pace who is slowly moving out of the festival circuit and into a radio friendly zone. During last nights' concert of Kurt Calleja, representative of Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2012 with the track This Is The Night which he co-wrote alongside Johan Jämtberg and Mikael Gunnerås, Maxine was a supporting act. The line-up she joined was pretty impressive noting former Eurovision Song Contest representatives; Chiara and Gianluca as well as former Malta Eurovision Song Contest runner-up, Amber.

Throughout the years, Maxine Pace showed great tenacity and talent as she took part in the pre-selections which led to Malta's participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Her most spirited performance which many people thought should have definitely done better was the one of the song Toy Soldier back in 2009, a year which was ultimately won by Double Trouble performed by Francesca & Mikaela. Her debut single entitled Fed Up is co-written with singer/songwriter Ramzi who has already achieved success in the United Kingdom with his debut album Chapter One which was instantly certified Gold. The lyric video for the song was created by the production team of Where's Everybody. Stay tuned to escflashmalta.com for all of the latest news.
