Spain: Warner Music Pushing Diana Navarro

Warner Music Spain has been supporting the nations' participation in the Eurovision Song Contest for the past three years and therefore when internal selections are going about it seems that the broadcaster; RTVE is seeking their guidance and their vast selection of artists. Earlier this year, when the competition took place in Azerbaijan, there was an aura of confidence with Pastora Soler noting that with her track Quédate Conmigo, she had to try and achieve, the first top ten result since Ramón and his song Para llenarme de ti managed to do so back in 2004. The estimations were correct and with a mid-table result through tele-voting and a high jury result, Spain returned to tenth place with almost a hundred points, therefore giving RTVE the possibility to take up a second internal selection. It seems that the two companies have been working together once more and the name that they seemingly have agreed upon is of Diana Navarro.

This news come about just hours after Spain officially confirmed their participation in the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest which is taking place in Sweden. According to the Spanish media and most notably, Juan M Fdez, a journalist with a private company, Warner Music Spain have confirmed that Diana Navarro is the one that they would like representing Spain in the showcase with RTVE somewhat pointing out that there is a local flavour about her music, which made them select Pastora Soler in the first place. Diana Navarro is not an unknown artist having been recording music since 2005 with all of her studio albums being acknowledged for their diversity in song selection. She has been known to fuse genres like flamenco with classical and oriental touches. It has to be pointed out that her material has gone platinum on several occasions with her first three albums in particular including No Te Olvides De Mi in 2005, 24 Rosas in 2007 and Camino Verde in 2008. Her last two releases have been well focused on covers and thus shows more versatility. RTVE will be making their announcement in due course but this is certainly some fruit for thought.
