JESC ’14: PBS Confirm Date of International Event

The European Broadcasting Union and the Public Broadcasting Services have come to an agreement that the next edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, taking place in Malta, is set for Saturday 15th November 2014. This information was made public in an interview that Tonio Portughese, Chairman of the Public Broadcasting Services had with Television Malta, following the announcement of the Malta Eurovision Young Musicians as well as the concept of founding an orchestra specifically for cultural events. The Public Broadcasting Services would like to be at the centre of Malta’s cultural spectrum and in accordance with the European Broadcasting Union, aim to achieve this position. 

At the 2013 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Malta entered with its head held high, and saw to the success of Gaia Cauchi and her entry The Start, co-written with Elton Zarb, Matt Mercieca and Gillian Attard. This gave rise to a whole new meaning to the participation of Malta in such events and Tonio Portughese has also gone on record stating that a brand new concept is being developed by the European Broadcasting Union to host a competition for ballet performers. The Public Broadcasting Services is showing interest in taking part in this event to, making the small Mediterranean nation, participant in four events organised by the European body.
