The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is surely a very popular family event here in Malta and also a showcase in which our younger generation of stars can express themselves through the medium of song. Our nation has participated since the initial event which was held in the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen. We give the event some extra exposure as it gets closer and therefore, that is why, we are continuing our feature "An Expert Opinion" today. We are going to be taking up each respective entry as drawn by the European Broadcasting Union just three weeks ago.

Our four experts have given us their comments and voted but you have to vote for each entry as well because the final result will be 80% Jury and 20% Poll Voting. Today, we are set to discuss the Georgian entry for the event which will be performed within the thirteen position during the evening. The young singer, Mariam Kakhelishvili, will perform the song "Mari Dari".

Biography (As Published by Junior Eurovision.tv)

On the 12th of September, 2010 the Georgian national final revealed a winner; a 14-year-old Mariam Kakhelishvili, who will represent Georgia at the final of this year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk. Born on the 9th of October, 1995 she started singing at age of 3. Her first stage appearance at a vocal competition took place when she was only 5. There she received her very fist award after having impressed the jury with her high range and subtle voice.

At age 12 she traveled to Egypt where took part in Junior Song International Festival in 2007 where she also got a special award for her talent. In 2008 Mari Kakhelisvhili participated in the national final for the 2008 Junior Eurovision Song Contest and was awarded with the second prize. The winner of that year's contest went on to win the European contest later on in Cyprus!

In 2010, she was one of the youngest participants of the project - Georgia's Got Talent (Nichieri), where she absolutely shocked the professional jury with her deep understanding and interpretation of the famous hit by Beyonce - Listen, she therefore became a winner of the third prize. The same year Mariam was presented at the national selection with the Song - Mari Dari, where she demonstrated her powerful voice, wide range and vigour.

OK very cool Intro. Techno dance track and once again I got to say I am impressed with the singer. Now call me old fashioned but I don’t really hear a song it really seems like just some cool music. I will give it 10 out of 10 for originality but it is annoying the hell out of me after 2 minutes. So in some ways it is the coolest song so far and I could hear it in a club but I don’t do drugs so not a winner for me

Ylenia Vella: 7 from a possible 10

An electronic-type of song. Full of beats which make you nod your head along, It also makes you hum along ‘Mar – Mar Dari – Dari’.  A very strong voice and it reflects our energy as the young population.

Donna McCaul: 7 from a possible 10

Very modern song, reminds me a bit of Lady Gaga. I really like the folk elements used in different parts of the song. Not sure how this song will do on the night, just doesn't remind me in anyway of a Eurovision song but i wish them good luck.

This song is well-produced, singer is good and overall the product sounds very good. However I feel that the song resembles Lady Gaga's "Telephone" way too much!!!! I don't think that this will effect the song on the night, therefore I still feel that overall it's a very good package.

Result

Well Lady Gaga has been having an interesting effect on so many nations this year with even an entry here in Malta completely dedicated to her. In the meantime though, Mari Dari is very modern and electronic like. The vocals live are a little bit shaky but she might have improved since the national selection. Our experts had interesting things to say about her actually and their scores varied from 6 to 8 actually but the final tally marked 28 points from a possible 40 points so not that amazing to say the least. Who knows where the public will put her though. Keep on following and vote on the left hand side.
