There are no words to describe the excellent rehearsal that Claudia Faniello gave yesterday morning as she left everyone gasping for air, breathless really. She wore a rather demure white gown, designed by Gaetano, very reminiscent of the one worn earlier this year during the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, giving a flawless vocal interpretation which silenced doubters, raising the bar for the acts that had to follow. The stage, bathed in white and blue lighting oozes class and simplicity. This is rather appropriate with “Breathlessly”, a ballad penned by Gerard James Borg with a complimentary melody by Philip Vella and…
Christina Magrin took the stage earlier this morning for her second rehearsal, and the Maltese team has done some drastic changes to the performance. The Maltese team has decided to ditch the five dancers Christina had accompanying her during the first rehearsal and one got to admit that everything looks like things are falling into place for the Maltese team. Christina looks serene, oozing confidence and is all smiles during all her runs. She belts out ‘Parachute’ to perfection and the press believes she is surely one of the best vocalists in this year’s Junior Eurovision. The Maltese team seems…
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest rehearsals kicked off yesterday at the Mediterranean Conference Centre with all countries being allocated forty minutes each and divided over two days. Escflashmalta.com was on site to bring you a recap of the first run of rehearsals. Italy kicks off the rehearsals with a simple performance yet one must note it is extremely effective and works well with the song. The singer delivers a strong vocal performance this early in the morning and there’s nothing much that is hindering this from doing well. Ireland is about next and the focus here is once again on…
With the first day of rehearsals coming to a close, Christina Magrin took to the stage at the Mediterranean Conference Centre to perform her colourful number ‘Parachute’, an original song which she co-wrote the lyrics with Matt ‘Muxu’ Mercieca set to the music of Florent Boshnjaku. It comes as no surprise that mouths gasped at listening to Christina’s vocal range, despite very much knowing that these first rehearsals are done in order to get the technical details sorted as quickly as possible. That said, the five dancers accompanying Christina already have an idea of their stage positioning and most likely,…
During the opening ceremony which took place last night, the allocation draw of the Junior Eurovision which will be taking place on Sunday, 20th November was decided. During the show, they actually chose at random the country singing in first place and the country singing in last – Ireland drew first, whilst Georgia drew last. The other countries then were either drawn in either the first half of the show or in the second part of the show. Malta was drawn up in the first half of the draw. The final running order is determined by the producers of the…
Ben Camille and Valerie Vella will be hosting the 14th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which is taking place in Valletta, Malta on the 20th November at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. On the other hand, Valerie Vella is…
“Parachute”, with music by Florent Boshnjaku, lyrics by Matt ‘Muxu’ Mercieca and Christina Magrin was officially released last night on Television Malta (TVM) following the 8 o’clock news bulletin and very soon after also on the official website of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Apart from hearing the song for the very first time, the general public also had the opportunity to view the preview video produced by V Squared, in conjunction with the Public Broadcasting Services. Shot in just one take, it follows a similar pattern to Kiesza’s “Hideaway”, but the output itself could not be any different, sporting…
“Parachute”, composed by Florent Boshnjaku and penned by Matt ‘Muxu’ Mercieca, will be the song that Christina Magrin will perform on behalf of Malta at this year’s edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, taking place in Valletta. The song, along with the promotional video will be made public during the 8 o’clock news bulletin this Thursday. Malta will be playing host to the international spectacle for the 2nd time in three years, having finished in 1st place as a result of an excellent performance by Destiny Chukunyere at the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with her song, “Not My…
It's Official! Malta has been chosen as host country for the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, making the Public Broadcasting Services the host broadcaster for the second time in three (3) years. This time round, the small nation in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea will be hosting the event in Valletta, the capital city, and also European City of Culture 2018. This opportunity comes as a result of Destiny Chukunyere who blew everyone away with her clear distinctive soulful voice during a masterful rendition of "Not My Soul", an original song composed by Elton Zarb to the lyrics of…
